The Portraits on Film thread

I think you've got this MF focus business sorted, Shaheed! I particularly like the first one, the slightly hesitant expression, everything in focus and nicely arranged, and those lively out of focus grass spikes all round behind.

Thank you!!

We were walking back to the car, and I asked Sophia a question. She turned around to answer and then I saw this pic in my head! Told her not to move as I quickly got out the camera and took this shot (luckily guessing the exposure!!)

I've three sets of film back ... on with the fun.

On this photo you can see the effects of a sunlight filter dribbled with clear nail varnish.

Haven't shot much personal work at all this year (despite something or other on film most weekends), so was glad to finally get busy again last weekend with Heather.

Colour images are away for lab processing but I have gone back to home developing for B&W.

Leica M2, 50mm summicron, Tmax 400. Home developed and scanned. :)

I've been eagerly anticipating these photographs - keep them coming! Mandy

Cheers Manda

Learning how to home develop makes shooting film much more attractive. Together with that feeling of creating something!

Looking forward to seeing more of your work on here [emoji6]

Right, printing next then.....:ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness though, it needs printing...

There are two 5x4 portraits in the LF thread. Colours are different in those since I wasn't processing the raw scans properly... which I realised at 1am. Ah well I need to figure out how to rescan the 5x4 negs with the full rebate anyway.

I posted this one previously in the Film and Conventional section of the forum, but I'm not big on portrait photography, so it's pretty much all I've got! It's one I took of my Grandfather around 1979 using a second-hand Lubitel 2 TLR (opportunistically and hand-held) with Kodacolor II print film, scanned using an Epson V600. There's quite a bit wrong with it as a straight portrait shot, but I think it still seems to work somehow, probably as it captures the mood of the moment?

I seem to be monopolising this thread at the moment, but here's one I took last weekend . This is one of the chaps who run the little ferry service across the estuary between Barmouth and Fairbourne. We had a bit of a natter whilst waiting for other passengers and he was telling me about his Dad's cameras and how he loved the look of older film stuff, he was very impressed with my Rolleiflex and so I asked him if I could take his portrait, obviously he said yes. :) This was shot on Kodak Portra 400VC which was dated 2011.

I mentioned in the "Show us your film shots" thread that I'd had some old films processed. There are a few shots on them of my ex gf which was a bit of a surprise. Past history aside I liked this portrait shot. It was taken on a Minolta X700 and Superia 400 film. Probably using the standard 50mm f1.7 MD Rokkor.

Here's one I took at a Military Re-enactment week at Cressing Temple Barns in Essex. I have shown some B&W in another Forum on this site but not THIS one in colour.
Pentax MZ-5 + SMC Pentax-F 35-80mm f4-5.6 lens, 01/2008 outdated Konica VX400 Super rated 160 ASA and neg scanned.
