Yes
Seriously, whats with GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome - or rather Disorder).

Here am I looking at the newsfeeds this morning and I see the Fuji X-T20, hmn thinks I, takes a quick look and thinks thats nice, I'd like one of those... the problem is I just sold a the X-T2 because I wasn't using it and to pay for a holiday - honestly bar for taking pictures to sell stuff and Christmas day I've not taken a shot in months...

So why on earth would I feel I need another camera?!?

Madness, I wish there was a pill - still at least I can see it coming now-a-days :D

I have mixed feelings on this. I see people on this forum constantly buying and selling perfectly good gear and there's a part of me that thinks they're mad but then I think that life is short and if they can afford it then why not?

I agree it should be GAD, but the D should stand for Disease

TBH I'm settled on my main camera, it's my lightweight alternative that I've chopped and changed as never been truly happy. Just recently bought the EM1 and am hoping this is a keeper ;)

I've been looking at upgrading my X-T10 for a short while now and gone through the X-T1, X-T2, X-Pro2 and X-T20 now as possible candidates.

Thing is, I still want the X-Pro2 even though I know I'd miss the tilty screen. Thank heavens for not having any money or being able to resist credit.

The EM1 was post fw 4 it became very nice :)

What I realised this morning is that I like the buying bit and the anticipation probably more than the actual camera.. very annoying, still I'm glad I moved the XT2 on, while I liked the AF speed and higher res (read better cropping ability) it just was much more than I needed, now the XT20 offers much of that but I refuse to talk myself into it, I'm still selling stuff to pay for the holiday so the last thing I need is to buy another brand new camera!!

We should have a forum GAS competition, a prize for the worst offender?
I vote @rookies lol :D

I feel I'd have a shot too, but it'd be close...

So far...

Canon: 60D (x2), 7D, 5D, 1DIII & 5D3
Olympus: E-M10, E-M1
Panasonic: GX7, DMC-LX7, DMC-TZ40 (still have this one somewhere)
Nion: 750D (still have the kids ones: D3100, D5300)
Fuji: XT-2 and still have the X-T1

...and thats just the bodies, I've had a stupid number of lenses/flashes/accessories and still have a fair few even now.

According to my sheet thats 67 things I've owned and sold on, I still have apparently 42 bits and bobs kicking around - thankfully that does include filters, bags, tripods and so on

Not to mention having lost around £1800 in chopping and changing... yes as you say @snekler more of a disease.

Truth be told, I'll never need a better camera or lenses than I have now.

Very few of us really NEED new kit but most of us WANT it! As long as satisfying the WANT part of the equation doesn't interfere with the purchase of things that we actually NEED (food, fuel, rent/mortgage etc.) there's no real problem.

In all honesty I don't think the X T1 is a big enough upgrade I purchased the X T-10 after my pro 1 and I have 2 X-T1s one with grip but they all do the same job and have the same sensor. It looks like the X-T20 will offer a very similar spec to X-T2 with a good saving :) But I do have the X-T2 saying that lol

Oh I agree. I looked at the X-T1 prior to the X-T2 coming out and it snowballed from there [emoji1]

go on list your digital camera :p

Lots of GAD'ers sell and buy, it isn't that expensive to upgrade. I ran a D800 for a year and sold it for £100 less than I bought it, under £10/month in reality. The D810 I flipped it for was more, but when it is sold I may only lose £300 3yrs on...

Lenses keep their equity quite well I've found - certainly better than cars

..and thats what I keep telling myself - cheap rental, but it does add up, but I did go through a lot of items, each one loosing a bit.

The D would stand for DENIAL in my case

I have the wants and urges, but not the moolah! Probably a good thing ...

Was a time I was more flush with cash, and that was around the time the D800/E had just arrived on the scene. I bought all of the things!!! :woot:I bought the 24-70, 70-200, a 300mm F4, 2x sb900 units, new bags, a pricey tripod etc .. But ended up selling on half of it before even using it a few months. I ended up stripping down to just the body and 2 primes. I know that's plenty for me, no matter the system I'm using. But I still want, hunger!!! I'll always want ... but I'll always get over it.

But err what are your pictures like?

The only thing I seriously want now is the 5D MKIV which seems to be quite a quantum leap on what I have now (Canon 1DsMKII, 40D, 1D MKIIN, 350D), but whether I need it is quite another matter :)

But I will probably buy it in a couple of years when the price has gone down a bit (hopefully).

Your a collector so exempt from this competition :D

Bleeding hell @Phiggys, you know its cheaper to buy bricks if you're building a fort ;)
PMSL I could do with a bigger home TBH a two large bed Masonette just ain't big enough lol and my garage is full with 4 motorbikes I will never ride again due to my disabilities :(

I've had the xt1 just a month and I've a horrible niggle that I should have gone for a x100 model.
No just put the 27mm 2.8 on it or the much maligned 18mm f2.0 :)
But if your gonna sell or trade now would be the time imo before the XT1 bottoms out price wise.
It's still a fantastic camera that offers interchangeable lenses :)

Even without disabilities it would be a fair spectacle seeing someone ride four motorbikes at once :D

You need GAS ⛽️ John N lol

I rarely buy DSLR's:
D70 - 2005
D700 - 2009
D810 - 2016

I accumulated too many lenses though so I consolidated it down last year to:

16-35 F4
24-70 F2.8
70-200 F4
35 1.4

I do chop and change compacts and lightweight bodies though. I seem to have settled on a Fuji XT10 and a Panasonic LUMIX compact for when I want something for my pocket.

Yes I was going to do that when I went over to Fuji X :) some how it just didn't happen for some reason  but in all honsesty that kit you have covers 95% of what most of us need on a day out or a holiday.
Im using pretty much the same when I take my Nikon with me unless it's for wildlife or architecture.
