Hi I`m planing to make a wet-look photo shoot in my studio and have been looking for pvc sheet to use on the floor to collect splashes of water and not to damage the carpet. But the ones in shops are look to flimsy and thin.
What would you recommend?

Get some damp proof membrane, it is tough, waterproof (obviously!!!) and relatively cheap - it is wide too ...

Good idea, but a tarpaulin will be lighter and easier to work with I think.

Being reading the reviews about it and doesnt seem to have clear answer is it 100% waterproof or not.
Not really sure what to do... was thinking about that damp proof membrane as it seems to be just a think piece of pvc ...
Have you used tarpaulin yourself by any chance?

Butyl pond liner is softer and more flexible than PVC but more expensive. A new tarpaulin will be completely waterproof but in my experience they tend to leak eventually at the folds if you keep folding and unfolding them.

How much water and what's the floor under the carpet? Might just be easier to get the carpet wet if the floor is concrete and then hire a wet/dry vacuum and vac up the water

I would like to Thank everyone for their input. The problem was that the shoot was today and I had only 2 days to find and sort the setup out.
In the end I went with 5x4m Tarpaulin from toolstation.
It feels very durable and waterproof and big enough to even fold it on the sides to prevent the spillage.
I have just finish the first shoot and it worked great!
