The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Still loving the 35/1.4 for people shots :)

View attachment 96333

It's the perfect lens when you have space to move. I posted a few of the kids in the xpro1 thread with the 35 1.4. I can't help but shoot it wide open mostly :)
Now the Samang 12/2 is something else :D

P.s. If I do sell the 23/2, I may pick up a Chinese Discover 25/1.8 manual focus lens instead, can't go wrong for £70, surely?

Where are you finding this lens for that price? It seems a hard one to find for sale, could only find them on ebay.com for $150

Apparently they are all made by the same factory.

Silver or black though for a silver X-E2?!

Folks, if you're after some top quality Fuji kit at fair prices check out the classifieds (hint hint).

New Fuji X-pro2 owner checking in... and trying to build my posts to get a look at RyanyBoy's listings!!!

Anyone use a Xt-2 & Xpro2 in unison??

Not sure if best with two identical bodies, but GAS driving me towards the two!

I like the silver in that case, has a retro classy look to the combo. Looks an interesting little lens, I just read up some on it, some complain that the focus is really fiddly to get right because of the layout, but then I read there's different versions. One with the focus to the back, and third party versions where they swapped them around [aperture ring and focus]

I use the XT-1 and xpro1 and have no problem switching between them. Why have 2 of the same? It's not hard to adjust between them once you get used to each body. I like having something different on side, and have them set up for different purposes - one for standard always at the ready, the other set up for manual focus lenses using adapters. ATM one is shooting RAW, the other Jpeg.

That's definitely the sensible solution... I've a proper heart vs head battle going on... it'd really only be a concern for 5-6 weddings a year max...

Looks an interesting street lens that. They are made in the same factory as what?

The original manufacturer is Zonlai I believe, and then some third party companies use the same blueprint basically. I've heard that the third party ones, like Discover, can be better because they have the focus ring out front, much easier to adjust. The lens is as teensy as your 27mm, not much bigger and manual focus can be very fiddly if the focus ring is right at the mount. That's what I gather from a very brief bit of research mind

That on x-e1 would be a nice compact street solution you wouldn't need to be too precious about.

It does look quite tempting, I've been enjoying manual focus the past few days. Enjoying to the point of thinking I might pick up another X-Pro1 just to use exclusively for manual lenses.

My new Lens Turbo II arrived this morning so was having a quick play with it and the Helios 44. When I opened the curtains in the front room I was met by a young pigeon cowering on the window ledge. Not sure what had happened to it but it wasn't for moving so I grabbed a shot since the camera was in hand, ended up cropping to where it would have been without the lens turbo!

And to end on good news the lens turbo seems fine and solid, oh and the pigeon took a couple of hours to rest and flew off.

I do like this it works Gr8 in mono super detail and tones

Thank you kindly Sir, much appreciate your input & comments.(y)

So,

I have an X-T2 with 18-55mm kit on my desk.

The grip and 2 genuine Fuji batteries are on back order but purchased.

Had some left on the "credit note" at Jessops after the trade in so got a Gorillapod SLR.

Gonna enjoy tonight getting used to it.

That sounds like an excellent result Sir, "ENJOY" :D(y)

I used an X-Pro 1 and an X-T1 together for a while, using the X-Pro as a landscape option with the 10-24 and the X-T1 for longer stuff, first with the 18-55 and 55-200 then with the 18-135 and 55-200 for the rare times I wanted longer than 135mm. Now added an X-T2 to the bag and have that for long work with the 100-400 and sometimes a teleconverter. Have no problems switching between the 3, especially since I have each body set up as I want it for each purpose so don't often need to fart around with settings.

The 18-55mm is very good and has decent AF. The 23/2 is very fast and a good focal length. However, with young babies and just about toddlers, I found the 18/2 was a good choice. The wide aperture helps keep the iso down or shutter speed up, it's small and the AF is surprisingly ok on later bodies including the X-T10. I find 18mm allows you to get full body captures in small places e.g. baby in sitting position at the soft play.

Great thanks, I'll take a look at the 18/2 and the 18-55.

Do Fuji have regular cash back offers can't believe I didn't take advantage of the last one, but spent the end of the year sorting nursery...

Also forgot to ask what do people use for a strap? With the DSLR I had a OP-Tech sling strap this seems a bit over kill for the fuji are there any lighter weight sling straps that anyone could recommend?

Cheers,

Its looking like the X-T20 stock is a bit limited i placed a pre-order on the 26th Jan at WEX and just been told i need to wait until March for more stock :(
I traded in my Fuji bodies towards it to so ive got my lenses and still no Fuji camera to use...

Pre ordered mine from WEX on the 30th January and asked a few times when they were getting delivery and they couldn't tell me. I've now cancelled with them. Like you I've sold all my cameras so just have lenses. I have pre ordered from London Camera Exchange today instead so I could take some items in person to part exchange but not sure when I will get one. Only good news though is its only costing me £59!!

I actually spoke to LCE at Manchester and was given a reasonable offer for my gear but WEX offered similar prices so i just thought to save me taking my gear in at Manchester store and then needing return again later collecting the new XT20 it just made more sense to let WEX collect my gear then deliver the XT20..

Well that back fired didn't it as I've no Fuji cameras at all now sent them to WEX and a estimated March date now [emoji853]

Im going help out taking some photos ( for free ) doing a 18mile charity walk on March 19th from Leigh sports village to Man City ground which it'd been ideal for having my lighter gear and option of uploading to there Facebook page as we go, So I'm hoping it'll appear by then otherwise it's time for the Canon 5D3.

I traded my D750 and 24-120 in Jessops today for an x-t2.

They gave me £1,060 for the body and £422 for the lens.

Plus a £200 bonus trade in on the xt2 and the grip half price too.

I couldn't believe it, wex offered me £1320 all in.

Nah.

Thats where ive ordered from I've got the X100F on pre order as well as the xt20. I pre ordered the X100F last week as they offered £100 more than wex for my X100T. The Xt20 I have only just pre ordered today they said they were expecting delivery this afternoon for tommorow but we're not 100% Fuji have also pulled the plug on the free case from today as there's a shortage as it wasn't mentioned to end until tommorow . I normally order my stuff from WEX as excellent customer service but tend to find for pre orders you are better off using the smaller retailers.

Since we're having a run on monochrome, here's another from the weekend.

That's very nice Sir, great comp', really nice mono PP work giving a good full range of tones with detail in the highlights & shadows, and for me just about the right amount of movement in the water.(y)
