Yes
I took this today and although I am thinking rabbit a few have commented saying they think it a hare? Looking at the black on the ears and the eye colour now I am not sure?

Looks Rabbit to me Mick, I think the dark marking is coincidental.

It was my initial thought to but once some one puts a doubt in your mind?

I thought I would ask as I never seen a young hare? If it an adult it an easy pick?

Nice pic of adult rabbit carrying material to line its underground nesting burrow which is usually away from the burrow system. Hares have their young in a form which is just a slight depression in the ground without any significant lining.
Only ever seen this once so wonder if they normally do this under cover of darkness.

Cheers Regan, I can't say I have ever seen it before and I wondered what it was at first coming towards me lol

Rabbit. If that is nesting material it is carrying (doesn't look like it is eating it) then doubly so.

Mick cracking behaviour shot,i'd bet not many have seen this let alone captured it,like the urine spraying the males do. So few see this even in something so common as a bunny. Mate I'd go further and say it's a doe rabbit.

It's a crying shame more of us don't get to see brown hares, there should be little debate here Mick, they are so different. the leg length in a shot like this gives the game away. Mick leverets have dumbo ears, they kill me, they are soooo big:cool:. I'm sure they grow into them:D As regen says this is rabbit behaviour. Mick you 'll be able to ID the does later they look a state really scruffy when rearing kids. Female bunnies use their own fur to line the inside if the nest ...inside the grasses she's carrying..so they always look pretty rough beyond the smaller/slighter head that the males have.

Very cool shot mate, definetly a keeper for me as I feel this is so rarely seen

good stuff mate

We had many thousands of rabbits on our farm when I was a Boy.
This is the first I have ever seen with nesting material.. It must be a very rare shot.
So well done.
It looks pregnant to me.

Cheers Stu :)

I was nearly sure it was a rabbit as I see a lot a work in and around the quarries in Derbyshire as well as a few hares albeit adult ones? But when I have taken my camera to work you guessed it not a sight of them haha

When a couple of people put a doubt in my mind I then checked online and the eye colour and black on ears made me just question it enough so thought would ask here? I knew someone would have a definite answer (hopefully)

This was taken early in the morning as I had arrived at the location a bit early due to been cancelled at work so probably why I managed to get the shot and didn't realise it was quite rare to see until I searched for similar shots online?

Cheers yes it seems I was very lucky at first I just was laughing when I saw it coming towards me and nearly missed the shot because as soon as It heard the shutter and me move it was gone and only managed a couple of shots in focus!
