A different Collembola

I was out on Monday and only found 1 decent subject as the weather was not right for Collembola generally

I found this on a pool of water it has no eyes that is a drop of water where it's eye would be. I could have done with it in a better position and more magnification.

Frans Janssens said this about it "Onychiurinae. No anal spines. So it could be Deuteraphorura"

Very nice Alf. I spent an hour or so in the water butt today. Never knew it could me so much fun.

Oh i had a quick edit of your first pic to see if i could enhance the water drop and see an eye. Maybe a tad sharp,,,but no eye ...

Your edit is too harsh IMO opinion this is a very pale/white specemin. If you are posting somone elses images on Flickr I recomnd changing the setting to private only you can see it it can still be posted on the forum.

Did not get cold after and hour in the water butt?

Ah sorry Alf, did not know that. Think i have the settings right now ..Hangs head in shame..Yes my editing is going very wrong with everything i'm doing at the moment. I need to have a rethink.

No problems mate I am not bothered. I had someone go off on one on me as an image I had edited of thiers had favourites on my Flickr which was a bit embarrasing really.
As for the edit you did not see the springtail so it can be hard suggest changes I know. Lets face it my editing with this specimin is hardly consistant.

What are you editing with?

Photoshop. I think i'm trying a combination of different techniques trying to find a style based on how i do my dog portraits. Don't think it really works for bugs lol.. All good fun though.

Well if Frans isnt 100% sure then you've done great

what a find i remember you getting lots of decent species over the years stuff I dont normally see. It does look like a species thats under soil though.

Heavy rain before this was taken is probably why it was where I found it.
