Just got this but have not open attachment. A scam or not?? I`ve modified the Full Address.

Good day to you, Len!

I am bothering you for a very significant occasion. Allhough we are not familiar, but I have a lot of personal info about you. The thing is that, most likely mistakenly, the data of your account has been dispatched to me.
For instance, your address is:
Gardens
Camborne
Cornwall

I am a lawful citizen, so I decided to private data may have been hacked. I pinned the file - Gill.dot that was sent to me, that you could learn what information has become reachable for attackers. Document password is - 3665

Best wishes,
Veronique Barret

A scam or not?

Without a doubt - scam.

Delete it.

Psst..

..wanna buy a bridge?

Send me your bank details and I will tell you if I think it it a scam.

Possibly the attachment could even be ransom ware :(

As for the bait element of the email it you fear it may contain personal data maybe get in touch with the online phishing/anti fraud section of your bank even though not obviously (?) posing as from the bank.

i had the same arrive today with an old one of my addys on it. its at least slightly better thought out than the African prince who wants to borrow my bank account:p

Just a note to say that password protected attachments cannot be opened and scanned by your emails anti-virus/malware protection systems.
If you don't know the sender, never open them, just delete.

I don't think that could look more like a scam if the email subject said "scam".

As the ol' saying goes, if in doubt, have it out.

Oh come on folks, where has your trust in the human race gone, I'm sure this is an honest innocent person :D

Well, they did describe themselves as a "lawful citizen" and that's good enough for me. Now I'm off to water the magic beans I bought the other day.
