Nikon D750 & D780

I find during wedding season carrying all my kit does my back in a bit. Mainly because I'm pretty unfit at the moment, so I've decided to change that.

So I signed up to a club that a couple of my (lot more) active friends go to as they rave about it. However, I hadn't really looked at the kinds of exercises they do. I just knew it was lots of interval training and waits.

So, I start Crossfit next weekend (the 6th), and I think I might die.

What do you carry?

What do you carry?

2 x D750, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 58mm, 85mm and soon to be 105mm and a single flash, in a shoulder bag. It'd be fine if my back was stronger, but it's not. It'd also be fine in a backpack, but I wouldn't have as easy access to the lenses.

Couldn't you slim the kit down to help? 24/28/35 all very close together? Or use two bags and keep one close by and one on you. I tend to just have the two bodies and two lenses available with the rest in easy reach.

Yeah I probably could to be honest, but I like to have them available just in case.

I might be able to get away with a backpack as I find I'm changing lenses less and less anyway. I reckon I could shoot a wedding on nothing but a 35mm if it came to it.

I just can't justify buying a peak designs backpack at the moment :)

In my last wedding I was 95% 35mm. This meant only carrying one body and lens on my PD slide all day. It was a small venue though. I hate being weighed down with loads of gear.

Yeah i have the slide, and my other camera has a clutch and i clip it to my belt.

Please let us know if there are any problems. I've been toying with sending mine in for a while now.

on the recall?

I sent one in on the recall and it came back fine, been using that one while this one was with them. This one wasn't on the recall, but the shutter failed anyway.

Yes it's the recall, thanks. I've got it up for sale at the moment but im leaning to change my mind and keep it. I'm sure I'm going to regret it if it goes. I might just send it for the recall work to be done for peace of mind, even though there are no problems with it and remove it from sale.

I thought I' taken this with a toy camera (MFT ) but I hadn't. The lens was made of toffee though.

I'm sure I remember these stamp dispensers taking threepenny bits. Jeez I feel old.:(

Did you take this using some weird picture style/effect?

How about a roller bag? After the one I did at xmas, my back was feeling the same. If I were doing them regularly I'd definitely have a thinktank airport jobbie, easier to pull around and ditch in a corner.

Did the Ross day yesterday. Must say that I found it very good indeed. Well worth any wedding snappers money next year, very enlightening and a super insight into the mans mind.

Looking to pick up the d750 and keeping my option open for a good starter lens (have a few considered i.e 24-105, 24-120)

Any recommendations for a starter lens?

Looking at getting a grey import from panamoz - so body is £1255 or i can get it with the NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR Lens Kit for £1562

Better going for the body only and putting £307 towards a different lens?

Hi Mark, i have the 24-85 and find it quite a nice lens. I no longer have a D750 but it performs well on my Df. Having owned three Nikon 'normal' range zooms, the 24-70mm f2.8, 24-120mm f4 VR and the 24-85mm VR, i can't see a difference between them with regards to IQ. What you pay for on the pro 24-70 is the instantaneous focus speed and the extra light gathering abilities. The 24-120 is a nice range and performs well. The constant aperture is nice as is the VR. The 24-85 is often over looked as it's seen as the crap kit lens but in reality it is a real gem. The VR is great and its weight is a real bonus imo.

Used prices range from £200-260 so a brand new one with 3 years Panamoz warranty is worth £307 imo.

Nice work Kris. I'd have to equal up the first though so it was as symmetrical as possible. I like the repeating arch shape in the second and the light on his face against the darkness.

That's where I was going with it but was a little too tight to the bank could have done with a 24 really.

I'm very jealous!

Would like to do one in a year or two.

A couple of the lads said they had done a few but felt this one was best to date.

There's a D750 with 24-120mm for sale in the classifieds, originally bought from Panamoz and has just over a year warranty left. I don't know the seller so as always do your own checks ;)

Are grey imports covered by nikon replacement?

Also, is there a time limit when this needs to be done?

I'm considering offering on a used 750 and it's affected by the 2nd recall, but owner states he's having no issues. Make sense if i can to use it then look to replace nearer the end of the life of the shutter i.e 80k (100k tested i believe on this model - although will likely last much much longer)

i boughtmy 750 from panamoz and nNikonUK and was in the second batch of recalls. I was getting shutter jams as well and they replaced the whole shutter assembly under warranty

To date all cameras have been eligible for recalls regardless of where they have been bought from. As to a time limit I'm not sure, maybe contact Nikon and ask but don't mention that you want to rack up a large shutter count first as I'm sure they won't take to kindly to that ;) That being said mine had over 60k on before it went in.

Recently someone mentioned on here using a high pass filter in PS to add sharpening, which I have been doing. My process has been convert to smart object > Filter > High Pass > pixel size > select normal or soft light > select percentage. However, this is a global adjustment, is there any way to do this to part of the image, such as brushing out parts that you don't want to add the filter to?

I'm doing another boxing event tomorrow, same venue as before. Borrowed a 50mm f1.8 so going to see how I get on with that this time, but will take the 24-70mm too.
