Portrait of my wife

Yep. I've no idea what happened there. I guess it's part of the mystery of shooting film.
It's a bloody shame though or otherwise it would be hanging on a wall :(

This neg is pretty much what came out of the camera with no PP. lve no idea why my wife's eyes look like that but we will go out and shoot again and see what happens next time ........ loving shooting 4 x 5 though

Did you develop the film and scan it yourself or not?
There could be gremlins somewhere if a lab auto-processed it ...

My wife has brought up a possibility ;
If she blinked at the moment of the shot, could her eyelids have produced this odd blur/greyishness just there?
Can you remember if it was a slowish shutterspeed?

If she blinked at the moment of the shot

That blur would affect only the eyelids I think and not a
larger area with that lack of details and density.

And, as for the SS, the wide opened lens in that sunlight…

As a guess, a freakish occurrence where the light has gone through the tiny spaces in the hat. A case of wave or particle theory!

Its a real shame as the rest of the 4 x 5 is IMHO is amazing.............never mind I will try again later

Could it be that the film had an air bubble across the eye. on the first agitation thus holding back the development until the developer got through after further agitation. Long shot but a pos:)sibility

At one sixth of a second could she have possibly twitched the brim of her hat down during the exposure just like the blinking of an eye??

Surely it would be easy enough to use to photoshop "burn" a bit of exposure back into her eyes? Nice shot by the way:)
