A continuation of shots from my walk around Victoria Quays at the weekend. These are all taken with the little Minolta Hi-Matic G2 that I picked up for a couple of quid last time I went to the Boston Spa camera fayre. It's a nice little camera, akin to the Trip 35. The Trip looks nicer IMO, and I think the lens may be sharper to my non-expert eyes, but the Hi-Matic feels nice in my hands, the winding lever is lovely, and the distance scale is on top of the lens barrel, which is much better than the Trip where the scale is on the bottom. The film is Agfa Vista 200.

I've just been scanning some test shots I took after my Canon A1 came back from having new light seals fitted. I'd also wanted the sticking aperture mending on its 50mm f1.8 lens, but unfortunately it was found there was some deterioration of the lens elements, so it wasn't worth spending money on to repair. Fortunately I managed to find a Canon FD 50mm f1.4 in lovely condition at the right price, so I was keen to get the test film back and see how the camera and lens performed. I think Bokehlicious is the right description for the first shot taken at f1.4:

Nothing wrong with the sharpness, even at the edges on the next one, so I'm happy with what I've bought. The A1 seems to be performing well too, with spot on exposure in most situations. Not bad for a 37 year old camera. :)

Very nice Carl. I'll have a few up tonight but I need to go through the 15 rolls that we downloaded from filmdev....

Liking that a lot Carl, just the right amount of movement. I have a feeling mine will look like someone has set off a smoke machine.

Yeah that's good work, Carl, shutter speed just right IMHO. Can you remember what it was? To be picky, perhaps a step or two further back would have given a bit more headroom top left and bottom centre, but I really like it anyway.

Thanks Chaps :)

Thanks for the critique Chris, my notes from the day say that it was 1 sec at f/32. I think you're right about the framing, a couple steps further back would have been much better. Unfortunately I'm not quick enough with setting up and taking large format photos yet, so I had to take the photo and run before the waves came in :LOL:

He had always worked on farms as a stockman (cattle) and organised the running of the conservation group, moving both us and the tools needed in one of a number of ancient Land Rovers that he owned.

I shot the colour Instax a few weekends ago on the Mini 90 I repaired but hadn't got round to uploading them;

Fun on the field

Woof!

I've just loaded a cartridge of B&W Instax Mini I bought a while back so I can shoot it this weekend in my Yashica 635. Figured I'd try a test shot first so here's my first ever B&W Instax (Iso800 in bright sunlight without a filter is not the best for a film that doesn't have a huge latitude!)

Can you see what I mean about those Yashica TLRs liking Ektar 100, now? You'll have to try it with Fuji Acros 100 next. :)

Acros is on my list of films to try still. I bought a couple of rolls of expired Portra 400 from eBay for £8 this week though. It expired in 2016, so unless it's been stored in a sunny window-bottom or something, it ought to be still good as new. Still got four rolls of Ektar and one of Fomapan 200 in the pile too.

We're away in the Lakes this weekend so I brought along my Yashica 635 and InsTLR back with a pack of B&W film I've been wanting to try for a while. I'm finding the exposure seems tougher to get right than with the colour film (which also isn't great!) but other than that, I like it. Chloe wasn't so sure but was the only model I had at the time!

Love the facial expression on Chloe. 'Oh, do we have to, Dad!!'
