Explosion In Manchester

And Mondays f***wit wasn't a Syrian refugee.
He was home grown. Again.

Thank you to all those that replied about my kids. They're fine, or seem to be anyway. We're encouraging them to talk about it when they're ready, and they seem to be handling it well now.
My niece and her friend were also at the concert together (not with my kids), and I believe they're not doing so well. Very traumatised, as I'm sure a lot of children and adults are.

We can't let scum like this win. Seeing everyone rocking up and pitching in has really given me more faith in humanity.
Offering free food. Free taxis. Free accommodation. Supermarkets filling car boots up and taking them to hospitals.
Nurses, doctors, emergency services and others going into work, staying on afterwards.
All heading towards Manchester.

That's the best F*** Y** reponse we can give, and it shows that evil bastards like that are far outweighed in this world, by a whole lot of good, despite what the media likes to tell us.

My thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected by this. Directly or indirectly it doesn't matter. You don't even have to have been there or know someone to be affected.
I only hope that time gives those the peace that's needed, and the justice that's so rightly deserved.

Zoom in on the writing and it look like it's been cut and pasted.

Agree, it's not the curvature of the writing that's the issues. It's the halo where the background colour of the writing has been poorly blended. More fake news then , but then again it's from a tabloid so no real surprises.

Went to town today which was packed out, and of every person I saw the armed police stood out like hell. I must admit it was good to see the police armed and looking after us while out and about

Went to Brussels for a short break couple of weeks ago and first thing we noticed at the stations were the armed police/military (not sure which)

Have to say in a city that has recently seen more than one terrorist outrage it was reassuring to know they were there.

Utterly heartbreaking - link

I can see where that links to, and I think it's the last place anyone should be looking at following that paper's reaction to this tragedy. No wonder the people of Manchester are joining those in Liverpool in boycotting it.

What has The Sun done now?

I see Katie Hopkins has been 'let go' in light of her comments about the attack.

Hardly a screw up as it's a first edition copy. A lot of fuss over nothing.
No it's not.
Even early editions are signed off....approved.

Apparently this first edition of Tuesdays paper was sent to print 35 mins before the tragic event on Monday night.
Exactly. First editions can be found for sale well before midnight, that means they have been signed off, printed and distributed.

Born here of Libyan parents that have moved back to Libya, possibly conceived in Libya, they arrived 93 he was born 94. Salman Albedi. Just like John Smith really.

Oh, I didn't realise no one without a "home grown" sounding name could, in fact, still be British. Sorry.

People need to stop fixating on his "extraction".
He was born here, raised here, schooled here.
A British man who murdered 22 people in Britain.

Irrespective of where they are born or raised Libya and Syria is hotbed of radical extremists and terrorist training camps.

It's not the fact his name isn't British sounding.
His "extraction" and warped sense of religion is the reason he did this - what should people fixate on? How many religiously agnostic C of E anglo saxons are blowing things up?
He was born here because we are a, believe it or not, a welcoming society. If we'd been like a lot of other Muslim countries his parents wouldn't have been given haven in the first place.

Yes, I can agree with that. Born here and like others who are born here they have, by some means, acquired a culture and beliefs that are totally alien to the UK and completely incompatible with our way of life. I cannot imagine how it would be possible to make such people change their ways to make them suitable to live in a civilised society.

British by birth, Libyan by background, a radical Islamist by identity, loyal to a “caliphate” based in Raqqa, Syria.

So what's your point ?, Do I take it that's all fine and dandy then ?

But that's not his history.

If the press reports are correct, he was a typical 'british' teenager, experimenting with drugs, alcohol etc.

Until a friend was stabbed and he felt it was symptomatic of the wests attitude to his 'religion' from which point on he became radicalised.

I've edited out some posts.

Please be civil towards each other, and respectful.
Not only to each other, or to those affected by Monday's tragedy, but also to anyone else that may read your words. Bickering and fighting don't make this community look good to the average passer-by on the internet, and who knows how your thoughts may affect someone.

Ariana Grande has announced that she is paying for the funerals of the victims of the Manchester attack, the manager of West ham has found the two homeless men who helped dying victims has just offered them both six months all expenses paid accommodation and money to help them sort themselves out, the public has donated thousands of pounds for victims, families, emergency services, and heroic citizens. This is how we fight terrorism, not with hatred, not with arson attacks on mosques, but by standing strong, supporting strangers, pulling together and staying strong as a nation. That is why Britain is great. These are not the monsters that hid under your bed as a child, they are cowards driven to murder and suicide. They will not prevail.
The tragic event have bought a tear to many eyes including mine. But.. Stephen Jones and Chris Parker were homeless before they were heroes, surely it doesn't take being a hero for people to show them the respect they deserve. Remember guys, when you walk past the homeless, just remember one day they might be your hero.
