It was a really nice day, loads of Sun, These birds are big yet when they fly past just 30-40 feet above you they are just so elegant, whats not to like about them.

Here's another from yesterday, it's an abandoned village, abandoned in 1932 I believe. As you can see I focused on the wooden direction pointer keeping the old church just oof.

I'm still going through Red Squirrel images from my trip to the Lakes. I'm sure everyone will soon get bored of the images! These were taken on the same wall as many of the others but I had set up a lovely moss covered I had found on the first day, within a day or so the squirrels were happily sitting on the new perch posing nicely.

2 lovely shots Rob, nice and clean BG too.

Looks like i`ll be using the D750 for my bug shots from now on, the other camera D3200 is dying slowly so maybe ill retire it now.
Enjoy :)

Hoping the new CC update fixes the constant crashing I keep getting whilst batch syncing in the develop module, it's been driving me nuts! Never happened with the old mini Mac. I see it's been raised on various forums, anyone experience it?

Blimey, a whole day with no posts, must be out enjoying the weather like we were last night..

question:

I took my 50mm 1.8 off my camera this morning and put on my newly bought 28-105mm nikon lens (it's an old lens but has auto focus). However with this lens there is no confirmation beep from the camera for the auto focus?

I checked the settings and beep is enabled in the menu.

Suppose i could put my 50mm back and test it again to see if it beeps but i'm not at home now.

Just wondering if this is an issue/drawback with old lens. Not that it's a big issue at all, just curious.

Why do you use the beep Mark? I only use it in the studio so the model knows when not to blink [emoji6] but other than that, it's bloody annoying. Each to their own of course. Assume that it is still locking focus though?

Doesn't really bother me to be honest. Happy with or without it, like i said it's no biggy.

The reason i ask is that it's a newly purchased lens and just something i noticed. If something is not doing something i expect i like to understand why.

Yep focus is still locking on fine, just no beep.

I was going to try my 28-105 to see if it beeped, but I can't work out how to turn the beep back on!

I am sure my ones beeps, not at home now but can try as soon as as I get home.

Here's a couple from the 1940's weekend at Haworth with the Siggy Art 35mm, all at f2. Weather a bit different on Saturday than this week.

Love the colours on these.[emoji106]

Agree about the colours and sharpness, lovely shots.

Took the D750 and 50mm 1.8g to a friend's wedding today. Camera was really struggling in low ish light today, so much so I reset all settings on the fly just in case!

It just wouldn't lock on focus, even when using centre point at times and focus assist light didn't come on (is set too on!).

Not sure if it's lens, body or me! The tog had 2 750s and didn't appear to have the same issues!

Give us an idea of your settings for those areas Justin, just to determine how dark it was. Was the other tog using primes too?

Other tog was using 50mm D and 85mm G. Just about and about at the moment so will look at settings later.

I really hate to admit but I think @snerkler might be right about the 50g sharpness ;)

What did he say? I'm not over-awed at all with it's sharpness either. It's nowhere near as sharp as my 35/85 1.4s but then it's a toy and a 1/5th of the cost so don't expect it.

Just checked on a photo where it was refusing to focus -

Aperture Priority -
F2
1/400
iso-6400

Another one the auto iso went up to 12800 and shot at 1/200 - even though I had it sent to 1/400 minimum. This was as 2.2 though.

Probably more user error I guess - should have gone to 1.8. Maybe the filter had a bad effect, or maybe the 50mm just didn't like me today!

I only took my camera as the Bride requested me too - so thought I would just take the 50mm. Actually found it a bit tight 80% of the time!!

Doesn't seem dark enough to cause focusing problems to me.

Yeah I know - I have shot darker I'm sure! Just editing a few shots and the outside ones have come out quite well... maybe a bit sharper than I was expecting, but was probably because they were at 2.2-2.8.

Maybe it was alack of contrast on some subjects?

I'd try it out at home, shouldn't really struggle at that. The 50 1.8G excels above 2.5, I usually shoot at that with mine. At 2.8 it's as very sharp.
