weekly TPDK's 52 of 2017 - Wk 49 to 52 Added and COMPLETE

Well better late than never as they say, and what another fine shot from you Dean, I like the footprints leading down to the smooth water with the thingies in the distance :)
Cheers Dave - Agreed better late :D

A very nice photo, very sharp in the foreground and nice soft long exposure sea. And I like the composition with the footsteps leading straight to the objects in the water. What are they?

DK your long exposure waterscapes are luscious ... so lovely.

Your reshoot with footsteps not coming back works so well.

The detail in your Large is awesome.

Thank you Bernd :)

What are they... well, I would like to know that too as I have no idea, they are very odd especially the one with the steps leading up it, maybe some sort of mooring at some time ??

Oooo Cool, thank you David :)

Great composition DK ....those footsteps look almost ghostly disappearing out of view, super smooth sea too.
Cheers Susie :)

Oooops I missed large till d00d just commented, I love his choice of words 'luscious' it is a perfect description of your long exposure shots. Large is a smasher.
Thank you again, real pleased with this feedback :) :)

Hi DK.

Smoke - I like it. I did wonder how you'd achieved the levitating, but after reading through the comments I guess I understand.

Vivid - Simple but effective and to the point. Excellent falloff of the light giving the strong black background too.

Large - I think it fits the bill, and you've even got the horizon horizontal ;)

Mineral - Well taken. Bit of a shoe-horn though.

Large and Mineral - Two very nice shots. I like the way the footsteps disappear over the brow. The smooth water works with these shots as I think the sea could easily have detracted from the intended subject.

Easy as that hey :)

Hahaaa thank you, and glad you noticed the horizon, I do try to keep the horizon police away if I can :D

Mineral - Well taken. Bit of a shoe-horn though.
And thank you again... but a Shoehorn, how dare you... how about artistic licence will that do

Another great long exposure...now you're showing us up ;)
Hahaaa I wish, but I wouldn't do such a thing to you lovely peeps :)

I wouldn't have thought of a square crop for a seascape but it works well with the balance of sky/sea/sand and directing the eye along the footprints.
Thank you Em, glad the crop works for you too :) :)

Large and Mineral - Two very nice shots. I like the way the footsteps disappear over the brow. The smooth water works with these shots as I think the sea could easily have detracted from the intended subject.
Annnd thank you too Chris, agreed with the point on the sea, a very nice way of putting it :)

Right... I am trying to keep up, and having just got back from a nice long weekend in Birmingham (no camera) I took this shot (shots) on Friday of last week... Noting exciting, no long exposure seascape for those that enjoy them :D but a straight forward shot of Norwich Cathedral.

The shot is a Panorama stitched together in LR, 8 frames taken in portrait, a bit of cloning, a tweak to a few sliders and hey presto.

Hmmmm I am relatively happy with it for what it is, not keen on the distortion but I have tweaked it to its limits and my capabilities in LR to straighten, sky could be nicer and I would have loved to have had a pair of steps with me so that I could get more of the feature in the grass to show up

Week 19 - Architecture

Week 19 - Architecture by TP DK, on Flickr

A wise man always carries ladders with him, I think we have had that conversation before, its a vast image and very impressive to stitch them all together seamlessly

There is still too much distortion in the photo for my taste... I think it would have worked better if you had cropped it from the rhs just behind the spire.

Shame about the distortion, but a nicely balanced shot that fits the bill. The thought of stitching a panoramic of a building with all those angles and lines does not appeal to me so well done.

A very nice bit of Architecture for sure, but for me, (and I know its out of your control) the flat sky really lets the image down.
Yes, there are a few issues with processing, but I think a vivd blue sky would have made the whole image sing and that would cause the PP to be less of an issue.

My first visit for about six weeks, Dean, so another quick catch-up :) I really like the idea and image for Evolved, with the warm colour, perfect shadow and fine details making a striking image. Hold is fascinating, not just for the details of the ant but also the shape and texture of the sugar. I've never tried anything like this and can only imagine the patience and setting-up that went into it, so

Your smoke image is another clever one, and unusual with the inclusion of the match. I'm not sure whether the match is a bit prominent for me, but it does adds something and the smoke itself has been lit and captured perfectly (y) Large is a good idea as those things are ginormous and the long exposure works well on the sea and sky, your Mineral re-shoot works well with that low viewpoint, as does Architecture with that great wide sweep of buildings and lawn, but my favourite is most definitely Vivid.

It leapt off the screen at me a couple of weeks ago on Flickr and just did the same again. Those colours and shapes are beautifully lit with the slight shadows, and the clever arrangement is so attractive. Very well done, you!

Architecture, a very nice shot Dean and yes it would of been nice to see more of the lawn bit, don`t know if you would agree, but with how the sky is it might look better in b&w (y)
Hmmmm hadn't tried a B&W, thanks Dave :)

Cheers Allan - and yes a very wise man would say that

Thanks Bernd :) Hmmmm I', not with that one for me the main distortion is in the middle of the shots so would still be there... thanks anyway, always like varying opinions :)

Thank you Chris :)

LR does all the work nowadays, having the right shots makes the difference for me :)

I thought you done very well with the panorama stitching processing and distortion correction. A very grand building still in excellent condition.
Thank you Stan :)

Yes it sure is a wonderful building, well worth a wander around with a camera, I'm going to do it again one day and take a tripod with me, that should help hopefully :)

Agreed Mark, fully agreed :)

Very true, this may be one of the next 're-shoots' for me, I will add a not on the spreadsheet to remind me :)

Thanks :) - you should have a go, it's fascinating watching things that closer in :)

Very true, and thank you again... I too at times think it is too prominent, but when I look at a shot where I have toned it down the image looks a bit flat with just greys :)

Cool - a big thank you :) :)

…some pin-cushion work first followed
by a keystoning tweak would render an
outstanding photograph.
Thank you for visiting and commenting :)

I would love to know what you mean as I did what I could with my limited PP skills :)

I would love to know what you mean

The pincushion tool will reestablish the horizontal line in
the central part of the building… and remove lens distortion
elsewhere.

The keystone tool will correct the perspective.

The result of these two operations will be a straight building
in every aspect.

And so onto yet another catch up, still keeping just one week behind so far :D

A real nice walk today, just a 5 minute drive from my home, not wanting to go anywhere to far in this area on a bank holiday weekend.

I have used this location previously and I wanted to see if I could get a better angle that showed a bit more water, I also hoped to get a bit of movement in the sky and the reeds to help give a sense of time... BUT when editing they really did not work, the image was too rough and the sky looked weaker, so here we have a standard Image :)

Week 20 - Broken - The wind never catches these broken sails any more...

Nice photo for broken, good sky and a sense of loneliness/abandonment with the mill on it's own like that.

Thank you Chris :)

Like broken and remember your last shot of this. I like the old broken mill all on it`s own, the sky goes well too and the reeds just show a bit of movement (y)
Cheers Dave, you have a good memory mate (y)

Hi DK.
Architecture - Yes, there is distortion, but other than playing with liquefy, I don't think there is much you can do.
I did have the same thoughts that @Kodiak Qc had, and indeed I spent 30 seconds in PS playing, but I didn't end up with anything better. Maybe @Kodiak Qc could have a go and post the results?
Regardless, it's an excellent Pano, far better than the efforts I manage :)

Broken - What a sad sight. It needs someone to buy it and restore it (no I'm not volunteering).
I would love to see the sky a bit darker.

Thanks again... I will google them to see where they are as I have no idea :D I used the sliders in Lightroom and adjusted as much as I could, so hopefully the pincushion will finish the job (y)

Thank you Tim :) now liquefy sounds like a spell of some sorts, or is that a super hero ability :D

Cool - thanks for having a go, when I did kee playing with some that straightened the verticals a bit they bent the spire (y)

Ahhh I wouldn't say that !!! but thank you :)

Hahaaa now I take that as volunteering  there are loads of them around here and they are slowly doing some of the up which is great to see :)
I would love to see the sky a bit darker.
Hmmmmm now you happen to say it, it does look quite bright !!

Really like the colours, composition and subject for broken. Great shot
Thank you Donna :)

Soooooo to get me up to date'ish other than my re-shoot that I have to edit, and will soon fall behind whilst I am away next week :bang: here is my shot for this week .

Taken whilst I was out yesterday still, I plan to get another shot whilst I am on holiday for the theme, but this is the shot I wanted to get Nearly... What I did want was to get was a fabulous old Norfolk Wherry, but there were so few sailing boats about on the stretch of the Broads yesterday.

There were rather a few modern cruisers/motor boats which certainly did not interest me, so I had just got back to the car, Mrs DK got in the car to cool down and I popped back a couple of hundred yards for one last look and thankfully there was this nice boat, I'm not too sure what type it is but still certainly closer to what I was hoping for... I waited for it to get in the right position where it was heading down between two banks so that it wasn't just square on, not caught at the best angle that I would want but hey :)

Week 21 - the Norfolk Broads 'Transport' from the past.

Week 21 - Transport by TP DK, on Flickr

Broken is a nice but slightly sad view of our past, and I also like the above.

I wonder if both could take a touch of saturation boost tho ?

Broken and transport are both very tranquil landscape shots. Great light, great exposure, great sharpness. I think the slightly muted colours go well with these photos.

Architecture ... There's distortion, but I like it very much.

Broken ... I recognise that windmill (I think). A pleasing image if not your best of that.

Transport ... a beaut ... nice soft colour, good detail in that yacht whilst still quite small in the frame so as we can appreciate its surroundings. 10/10 for compo.

(y)

Funny you should say that, I have boosted them quite a lot already as the time of day the light was quite harsh, but I do admit sliding back down slightly to keep them a bit muted, trying to make them tranquil :)

YAY !!! thank you Bernd, just what I was hoping for :) :)

Transport is a lovely sunny day shot, like the old looking sailing boat on theme nicely too :)
Cheers Dave :)

Nicely taken shot DK, bang on theme lines that lead you through the picture (via the subject) and even your horizon is horizontal (y)
Hahaaa yes I try keep it level :D thank you :)
You're quite lucky it didn't become the background for my edit of Georgina's rat rod...
Now that I would like to see

I have taken one of this one before, I didn't get enough water in the shot either then :D

Cool - thank you again, yes the surroundings are a big part of it, wide and quite open water, a peaceful as can be (y)

Love the sail boat shot. Nice composition and the positioning of the boat heading into the channel. Looks like a quiet and peaceful day for messing about on the river with an old sailing boat.
Thank you Stan :)

I sure wish I was out in it on the day, it was perfect for sailing, nice and warm and a nice s strong breeze :)

I agree with the comments above on transport, very nice, calm photo. I like that it is kind of at odds with the day-to-day idea of transport.
