Morning all my brother and a couple of his pals are doing a track day at croft tomorrow and asked if I'll go and take some pics but I've never been to croft

Any good / favourite spots?

What's a good focal length to take? Don't fancy lugging my whole kit around

Thanks

Try from the elevated area between sunny out and complex as shown on the map, you will be above the track along that stretch either of the bends along there have good photo opportunities. Or through the fence looking up the straight towards the start line from Clervaux. You wont be able to get to the hairpin as the track pro photographers have trackside permissions for that area, enjoy your day.

Ben,

It depends what type of shot you want to get to be honest. That said, tomorrow is forecast to be very bright and sunny, so shooting through the fences will be challenging. I'd therefore look at the following locations, you can go over the fences and something like a 70-200 (with a 1.4xTC if you have one) would be fine: -

  • Chicane exit.
  • Complex In
  • Complex Out
  • Sunny Out
  • In between Sunny In and Sunny Out

Covers those locations.

Hope this helps, and have a great day!

Simon.

Have you got a polariser ?

@srhmoto Never done this sort of thing before as cars don't really intrest me. I do like photography though and your panning shots (linked to) are fabulous. I couldnt see me getting anything like that.
