Arca plate with Red Snapper RSH-61?

Hi all

I have a red snapper tripod with an RSH-61 ball head.

Recently I've also picked up a Peak Designs Clutch hand strap that attaches to the camera via supplied Arca plate.

Does anyone know if and how I might convert the head to accept arca plates so I don have to keep taking the Clutch arca plate off when I want to use the tripod?

I see that the red snapper RSH-12 is supposed to be arca compatible but my RSH-61 is not. Not sure if the clamp part can be replaced or if it is easier just to upgrade the head.

Anyone else done this? Any thoughts?

Thanks

I've got a Manfrotto and a Novo tripod, I bought one of these for each and now they are Arca compatible - it just screws to the plate supplied with the tripod.

Unrelated, don't buy a Novo tripod.

Redsnapper RSH-61/30 head is Arca-Swiss compatible http://www.redsnapperuk.com/camera-accessories/RSH-61_30_Ball_Head.html

You can convert most ball heads easily enough, though there are some slightly different fittings.

Thanks. It doesn't actually say that the RSH-61/30 head is arca compatible. I sen a query to red snapper but they haven't r responded yet. My head is not the latest RSH-61/30 anyway and the arca plate definitely doesn't fit the clamp. On the RSH-12 page i swear when I posted the site stated Arca compatibility, but it doesn't now. I did try unscrewing the existing clamp by hand with an Allen key but it just wouldn't budge

Probably find its had some form of threadlocker used to keep it secure.
It should undo, but needs a bit more force applied to shift it, have come across this a few times myself.

doesn't it just slide in and then you tighten the knob?

all my arca stuff works with my red snapper

Rather than slide it in, can you open the jaws wide, sit the plate in and then clamp up? I find my Peak Design doesn't slide in easily but works the way I described.

Thanks everyone. Everyone's confusion and insistence that it should fit had me thinking I must be doing something stupid, I've been back to it and after some fiddling have it fitting ok now.

Basically the clamp does have to open wider to fit the arca plate compared to the red snapper QR plate.

I thought I had the clamp open as wide as it would go but realised after unscrewing fully there was a gap between the expanding part of the clamp and the sleeve that covers the screw holding it together. Maybe only 3 or 4mm. I had to pull on the expanding part pretty hard but I got it to pop out further. The springs that are in the clamp are not strong enough to push it out fully of its own accord.

I'll get the wd40 out tomorrow and see if that loosens it all up a bit.
