weekly TPDK's 52 of 2017 - Wk 49 to 52 Added and COMPLETE

What a serene scene for transport. You've done well with the whites (not blown) and a good composition (y)

Love the transport shot; typical Broads scene - big sky, muted colours and you found the perfect boat. Yes those motor cruisers just don't do it do they:(

He Heeeey that is great OD

Wish I could change backgrounds like that

Cheers Dominic, glad you noticed :) - It took a lot of effort to not blow any whites, even lifting shadows or exposure hit them instantly, so quite a lot of fine tuning to ensure none were blown :)

Thanks John... and no mate they sure don't (y)

Lovely to see that windmill again, though for some reason I feel as if I want the space on the other side so that the sails face into the shot? Very irrational I'm sure
I adore your boat though...such a light pastel feel to the colours and beautifully composed...just off to book my own boat trip now!

Broken - I also think I remember that windmill from last time, sky feels a little to bright on the clouds but otherwise a lovely shot.

Transport - A lovely relaxing shot and and nice take on the theme. I've never visited the Broads yet but must get there for a family holiday sometime, your shot would definitely sell it to me!

A very relaxed pass time and wonderful view.

No real crit as wwwwwwaayyy behind on comments :(

Cheers and enjoy your jollies (y)
Thanks Andy, appreciate your visit and comment all the same (y)

Hmmmm good point, and possibly valid too, I actually had no choice as there were loads of trees and cr&p to the right otherwise I would of likely put it too the left too, glad you are paying attention (y)

Cool, thank you Em, and enjoy your trip when ever that may be (y)

Two beautiful tranquil scenes for Broken and Transport, they have a real laid back feel to them, Very nicely captured DK.
Thank you Susie :) :)

Cheers Steve :) - Can I blamer that on your monitor :D

Thank you again Steve, it is very very relaxed to be honest, plenty of wildlife and fish, and loads of riverside pubs with moorings for lunch and a cool shandy should the slow pace tire you out :D

Broken & Transport - Can't really add much to what has already been said, but two nice shots, one emphasising the broken and lonely, and the other a great sense of tranquility on the water.

A wee catch-up from me, Dean.

Architecture - a lovely old structure and such a shame to see it abandoned and broken like this. I can see in my mind's eye your idea with motion in the sky, but sometimes we can't wait forever for our first idea and have to avoid falling further behind (I'm an expert in this ;) ) The location is gorgeous and somewhere I would love to visit as I have seen very little of the Norfolk Broads.

That goes for Transport, too. A peaceful scene and unusual subject, positioned perfectly in the river

Thank you very much Andrea, yes you should visit the broads if you want some peace time :)

So here are my couple of shots taken while on holiday, taken on time'ish but a tad busy to finish editing and so just posting up.

Week 22 - Minimalism

Mrs DK looking out to sea... Ideally I wanted more sea but it looked fine at the time :D

And another from my holiday, taken on time but again edited late and now posting a tad late too :D

Week 22 - Progress

It was nice to see an original one of these whizzing around for sure, soooo much more character in these !!

Week 33 - Progress by TP DK, on Flickr

A bit more sea would have definitely been better for the first, its a good idea though, not seen an original one for ages, nicely placed in the frame too

I've come to realise lots of minimalist art has the subject bottom left, so this fits the brief. Yes of course the subject could be minimalised by a bigger expanse of water, but hey I like it as it is.

That car seems to be making slow Progress therefore nice one for the theme, and it looks like great hols were had.

Thanks Allan, true and thanks again :)

Cool thanks David, and yes a great holiday for sure :) :)

BUT as always like anybody, it takes an age to catch up after a break :banghead:

Nice shot of Mrs DK looking out too sea like that you got Mrs DK on the LHS.
Thank you Dave :)
[quote/Progress of the car will do for me, but we are not at wk 33 yet :D[/QUOTE]See... that's how fcuked up my head is at the moment

Lovely old 500, much more character and more photogenic. Where are you?
Yup :) this was in Sorrento, Italy, certainly not Norfolk UK :)

Agree with what others said about more sea but the shot is still good as is, like the composition with the subject (hat) tucked away in the bottom corner and the blurry clear water.

Well spotted with the old Fiat 500 making slow progress.
Thanks Stan there were a few nice cars pottering around but very rarely were they on their own like this, I was constantly on the hunt for old cars or vespa’s down alleyways but few opportunities presented themselves!!

I had a great day yesterday with a couple of models at another organised event and I was trying desperately to get a couple of shots for the week 24 & 25 themes, this one was simple, but 'Tiny' was a toughie to shoehorn in, even for @Cobra I would have thought :D

So of the shots I took, this took me to one of my favourite pastimes playing pool, though I wish our opposition were as poor as young Sharelle here, I had to show her how to hold the cue as she had never played before :wideyed:

The day was about indoor and outdoor shots using OCF, had a great day, but as usual we were left to our own devices and when setting up this shot I didn't notice the huge shadows, but hey can't remember everything :D

Week 24 - Pleasure... an old pastime, Playing Pool.

Week 24 - Pleasure by TP DK, on Flickr

I don't mind the background but do find the shadows a bit strong, good shot though.

Love the Fiat 500 BTW (y)

My mate Nee' is from Thailand, I could have posted his picture I suppose....
Thai-Nee :p
:D

Two golden rules in this game: never play in your pyjamas, always keep your eye on the ball. So I'd give young Sharelle a run for her money or, at least, a pint of lager.

I don't mind the shadows not my immediate focus point to be honest  I think it works for the theme in the way intended

See... very clever Mr DK... clever indeed... the strong shadows I'm n a fan of... but I can't quite focus on what's wrong with them because .....attention.....being drawn.....elsewhere damn it!!

I'm not a fan of the harsh light and the strong shadows in that photo, and the pose looks all wrong but what can you do if you only have an amateur to take photos of? :)

ok  why did i read that as "...only have an amateur taking the photos.." :rolleyes:o_O:naughty::banana:

Pleasure, now what a cracking shot this is DK, great eye contact, like the the oof pool balls. Also like the shadow, my only gripe would be, the frame on the RHS wall. On a good note though, many years ago in my youth I use to make a lot of money playing pool :)
Thanks Dave :)

Now remind me to never play you at pool if we meet up

Cheers Chris, on both counts :)

Hahahahaaa Trust you

Good point David... You could with your eyes shut... though I think I would keep mine open :naughty:

Nice 'pleasure' I quite like the strong shadows too.
Thank you Clive... mixed thoughts on this one :)

Hahaa yes good point Allan :) :D

Guessing this has worked a treat then :D

It was a quick pose at the end of a good session, I really shoul;d have spent more time with the models pose I guess :)

ok  why did i read that as "...only have an amateur taking the photos.." :rolleyes:o_O:naughty::banana:
:cautious: :jawdrop: :ROFLMAO:

Nice idea for the theme. Agree with the shadows being a bit strong particularly across the model's face.

Hi Dean
I like the compo of Pleasure, but the lighting for me is way to harsh Im afraid. Looks almost like On Camera flash without any compensation ?
Also, Id have maybe tried to just have the shutters in the BG rather than that harsh brown L on the wall.....

Sorry to be a bit negative!

Hi Mark :)

All very valid points mate, agreed fill in with a reflector or the like would have been better for sure, as for the 'L' I have NO IDEA why I didn't clone that out

Moving on to last week, when I was hoping to get a 'Tiny' on my day of photography... it didn't happen as you know, so in stead I went out and nabbed a few pics on Sunday morning before doing another nightmare 'Gatwick' run picking my lad up from the airport.

I had a few ideas, I thought this would be original but now seen loads of bug images :D

Not the best of detail but best I got with the time I had, when editing I was mainly aiming for a pleasing composition, so put the reed from corner to corner, other than that a bit of tweaking of the sliders in LR.

Week 25 - Tiny - Making 'Tiny' Damselflies :)

Week 25 - Tiny by TP DK, on Flickr

And top get me up to date again I did a few more bug pics, and yes looks like again I was not alone, but hey that cant be helped some weeks :)

Not the worst of shots but again not the best detail due to the shallow DoF, I spent an hour or so trying to micro-adjust my macro lens, and I think it is getting there, but I think it needs a tad more work still... but with the strong wind we had it's tough to work out if that way the main culprit along with the poor light

Week 26 - Face

Week 26 - Face by TP DK, on Flickr

Catching up once again  Good eye contact with the model and I don't mind the shadows but how tall was that model, looks like she must have been about 8ft! I like the comp on the Damselflies, they look good on the diagonal and the blue stands out well against the green leaves. Love all the bits of pollen on the bee type bug, great for face. Not sure if I might have either cropped it closer to just have the face or a bit wider to include the back wing:)

Ooops just scrolling back and realised I've somehow missed loads of your pictures  :$ in fact too many to comment on :exit:Sorry :(
