Yes
I am just starting in the world of OCF, and currently have a 430EX but will look to upgrade this at a later date. I am currently using this off camera, triggering with the on board flash. I also have a 420EX if I want to experiment with 2 lights, but lets walk before we can run.

Question is, Would it be a waste of money to buy this https://www.amazon.co.uk/PIXAPRO-Re...0&sr=8-17&keywords=pocket+wizard+flextt5&th=1 in order to use HSS

Or would I be better off selling my speedlites and investing in this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01LS1UTF0?psc=1

Thanks

I am just before purchase of trigger, so will follow with interest ;)

Edit:
Godox X1N or YN622N?

I cant help you with te functionality of the godox trigger reciever kit with your canon flashes and if the tt685 /x1t kit would be a better solution. I notice you quest for trying HSS and while its posible you shouldnt expect to overpower the sun from any reasonable distance. Im doing some HSS with my tt685 but its running full power to make the background black indoor.

Thanks Soeren, I am aware I won't be able to overpower the sun with a standard speedlite, and indoor power will be sufficient for now, but as Godox seem to be the go to people for the supercharged speedlites I'm thinking its probably the best platform to get onto.

Its no secret i like my godoxes a lot so the easy ansver would be go for those. But I dont know how well the setup with godox(pixapro) trigger and reciever works so I cant advise for or against, It could be a cheaper solution though.

It will undoubtedly be cheaper for now, but I'm thinking if I go with the Godox option now, I'll have a better, or at least later technology speedlite (more powerful?), and I can sell off my existing equipment to offset most of the additional cost.
If I just go with the cheaper option of triggers, am I just further investing down an avenue that is not likely to provide the best value long term?

if you really think that this is something that you will do ever more of then it makes sense to buy with a longer term plan and yes I am a fan of godox as well.

Agree with both above posts. Though if the reciever option works anything like the rest of the godox lineup expanding will simply be a matter of adding to what you already have, pixapro is after all just another way to pronounce (another name for) Godox

Speaking of Godox, one thing that I am curious about - is it used professionally too? Ie weddings and stuff?

Yes
It's close to becoming the de-facto standard for wedding and event photographers.

The fact that they now have a range of mains powered studio lights as well makes this a truly adaptable set up and yes I use all of those, the V860II is a very capable light

So true. The AD360 and 600 was reason I bought my TT685's in the first place. The wing was/is probably the better speedlight of the two but the TT is great too.

Some new toys being delivered today. TT685, XT-1, Softbox, Light Stand. Time for the fun to begin.
Thanks for your replies and advice.

I am waiting for my X1T too, ordered two days ago, hope it will be here before weekend ;).
