The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

That's loser talk, 42mp FTW :D

Not really as there are no real losers, both the A9 and A7RII are great cameras. Yes the A7RII is sluggish compared to the A9 but it's having to work with way bigger files and costs considerably less. :)

The Sony A9 battery life is better than the 2.2x Sony claim compared to the A7 series. I think 1 battery is easily enough for a days shoot / wedding.

@jonneymendoza do you carry may batteries, what life are you getting?

I've compared some photos from my A7RII and not really lacking anything in the A9, I never made use of the 42.2mp as never printed etc.

The A7RII is still probably a good choice for landscape/studio work but the A9 can easily compete if resolution isn't a factor.
The A9 colours and white balance is better.
A9? Yea I have 3 in total but never ran out of a single battery when I was shooting all day in Silverstone

Couple of pics from me - truth be told I came away a little disappointed (photographically) from Italy - my own fault really as didn't get up early enough to get any decent light. Was a family & friends trip, so half the day by the pool then half a day sight-seeing (wine in the evening...), generally in full sun. No complaints about the holiday, just no great photos. Missed an amazing shot of a sunset over Volterra, had the wrong lens on and the light was changing to fast to switch. Small bonus however was a huge lavender hedge outside the villa teeming with insects, so lots of shots with the Bokina.

Have you decided what to do about your VF problem Alan?

I think I'll have to live with it for now as I don't fancy paying a couple of hundred £ or so to have a new one fitted, I don't tend to spend money easily at the best of times :D but as I said I do tend to obsess about every little thing so I'll have to think about it.

Sony A7 II? :D

Sony A7 II? :D

I can't see what extra a MK2 will give me apart from a new EVF. I might have a look at the MK3 and if it has a joystick and any other improvements I may think about it but spending a couple of £k just to get a new EVF and a couple of minor improvements might stop me as even with a teeny tiny speck in the EVF my first generation A7 still does everything I want... and apart from the single speck in the EVF it still looks like new.

Want to buy my infrared modded A7 then? It has a clean EVF and your manual lenses will be sharper

I'm sure it's lovely but everyone would ask me why my pictures look all funky :D As if they don't look funky enough already :D

One from a few months ago when we actually had a nice day. A7 and 55mm f1.8 at f1.8, focus was on the flowers slightly to the right of the centre of the frame.

You'll end up best buddies with the bloke at the post office, you'll be seeing him a lot with the weekly recalls.

Tbf it's only Nikons consumer stuff that really has an issue as of late. I guess having cameras half the price of their main rival is difficult to continue but they need to address it. Free shutter no matter what count for the life of the product ain't bad. How's that specky evf?

haven't nikon cut their warranty back to one year on bodies now as well? that combined will the reliability level does outweigh the good dr the cameras have for me. i thought about a d750 but it makes me a bit uncomfortable at present, id prefer less tech/lower iq with better quality control and backup than vice versa.

I think Nikon are honouring returns without asking too many questions.
