The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Congratulations. It is a very good shift lens. If you can, get the 24mm Olympus shift as well, which I thought superb and pretty much the ideal focal length for architecture.

Thanks. I wouldn't mind the 24mm but I managed to pick up the 35mm for a bargain. Not sure I'll find a 24mm for a similar price but I'll keep my fingers' crossed!

I read up on a cheap Harbiyeli back in my Canon days but never bought it. I always fancied a play with one of these though.

Our evening :D

Arrival! See the buns in the box at the back? I made those :D

Photographed with the humble and unintimidating and almost perfect for such an occasion A7 and 35mm f2.8 :D

I was toying with picking up a 14 or 24mm Samyang for my holiday later on this year then came across the Shift lens. I'll give it a good run out and see how I like it m. Apart from being slightly longer/heavier than the standard OM 35/2.8 prime, it's not a bad walkabout lens either!

Anyways I'm gonna stop posting A9 related stuff here and post on the proper thread. Up to you lot if you want to read it or not

Really the A9, as it's a Sony, should be the price of a DVD player. Because Sony make DVD players. So it should be what? £90?

And just to be clear that's a :D

Wish it was £90 lol and £10 per lens.

y eye man, your joking like. :D

Y eye man? That may be Geordie :D Where I live we don't talk like that :D Rather than "y eye man" you're more likely to hear the words "like" and "me" 1,000 times a day. Like "Where's me parmo like?" Or in my case "Where's me pizza like." :D

Thinking back to using my A7 and 35mm f2.8 last night for social photography... I should have used my Rokkor 50mm f1.2 or something else manual as relying on peaking would have been good enough and quicker than moving the focus point and AF-ing. I nearly used a Rokkor, lesson learned and next time I will. Actually maybe I could have focused and recomposed as f2.8-4 with 35mm would probably have covered any focus issue but I've never done that much.

How do other do social photography?

Just a heads up folks, WEX are offering 10% off Sony lenses at the moment using voucher code "EMOUNT10"

:)

A few posts ago someone here had bought the 12-24 from WEX but returned it as it had focusing issues, guess what....WEX now have a used OB 12-24 for sale only £1599 :chicken::rolleyes:

this is the reason I don't like buying OB versions from shops or amazon warehouse. You never know where its been

I wonder if I can use two vouchers at once. I got a £20 off one in the post other day. This make for a decent saving on that FE 85 if I can use both!

That's lovely Toni :D Tell me it's printed, framed and on a wall somewhere.

PS.
That is a nice lens :D I have one but to be honest I like the look I get from older lenses too and at the moment I can't quite bring myself to use the 55mm much.

true, although my FE 70-300 was an open box from LCE I think and it's absolutely fine. You can always return the item if it has issues.

The lens seems very good, it's sharp the IQ is good and it focuses fast enough for what I'll be using it for, I also have a couple of old FD lenses that I use when I feel nostalgic. lol

To be honest I wanted 35mm focal length but the only one I fancied is way out of my price league and I didn't want a zoom.

I looked at the Sigma 35mm ART lens but there's no way I'll pay that much for an after market lens!

Shame, because it's a fantastic lens, in fact it lives on my camera 80% of the time. With the MC11 adaptor it works just as it did on my 5d3
I'd be very surprised if we don't see the Sigma Art line coming to the native Sony FE system.. :)

I think the MC-11 provides a temporary bridge until they are ready. This reminds me I must try my 120-300 sport :)

look forward to hearing your experience with 120-300mm sport. That's one lens I want to buy but can't find any proper reviews or sources about it being used on A7RII

I've just a very quick and unscientific test in the garden and my thoughts are:

Size and Weight:
Handling wise, you can't really tell there's a body attached, its more a lens with a little block on. Personally I quite like it, my hand is positioned halfway down the lens and it balances really well.

Focusing:

My initial thoughts aren't positive I'm afraid, it locks on well, however it did hunt a little more than I'm used to (This may be don to being near the minimum focus distance). Im not sure how it would get on tracking moving bikes etc. I will have to give it a try sometime.

Accuracy and IQ:

When it did lock it did well and was sharp
