I wasn't really sure where to put this so let me know if there's a better forum to put this in.
I posted a video of a hippo Vs hyena clan confrontation that I recorded whilst on holiday to my Youtube channel, which has a whopping six subscribers. The video has picked up a massive 1,200 views, which is a couple of orders of magnitude more than my next most watched video.
I've just received the following message on Youtube:
Any idea on what my best play is here? I've googled the company, this thread suggests that they're legit. Going by the amount that the bloke in the thread received I won't make much money off this but I would get a kick out of seeing something I recorded end up in a magazine or similar. I have no idea whatsoever how much something like this is worth and whether handing over copyright to a company is optimal. A poster on another forum has pointed out that my video is way too long to appeal to someone that's killing time web surfing and that other Youtubers could pinch my video and edit it enough so that they can claim 'fair use'. As such, letting a company get what they can out of it seems like the path of least resistance.
