Im visiting Chelmsford, Essex tomorrow and will have camera with me. Tuesday evening I will be bored in a hotel on my own so hoping to get out somewhere and get some pics. Can anyone recommend anywhere within about half hour drive. Landscape or urban is fine. Waterfalls, rivers etc, Opportunities for a nice sunset????
 
Maldon estuary is a nice walk , nice pubs and there could be a few old fashioned riggers moored up

Agreed. Suggest you head for hey bridge basin. As you enter car park is on right. Park up and head for river at end of car park, turn left, short walk brings you to the lock gates. Cross the river to walk towards Maldon or keep right to visit pubs.
 
Wander along the Chelmer and Blackwater canal which runs from Chelmsford to the aforementioned Heybridge
We used to go camping at Little Baddow where there was a weir plus the countryside was very pleasant.

Thanks guys. I like the look of Heybridge basin. Quite fancy some boat shots. I saw some photos on google images of a rotten old boat . Hope I can find it. Currently sat in hour and half static jam on A14. Zzzzz
 
found the pub car parks (jolly sailor & old ship) and parked up. Got some pics and even a bit of light coming through the heavy, dark clouds. Saw a couple of rotten boats and a nice dilapidated jetty which has hopefully come out nice in the blue hour. Also got some dusk reflections in the marina, on the other side of the lock. Nice location. Thanks BBR. Will post pics up in a few days in landscapes section.
