Nikon D750 & D780

Haha, I hear you. Would be good to have a lighter option at 50mm but still 1.4 for everyday/family stuff.

But that 105....

I think the 58 is extremely light compared to the 35mm tank. The 50's are ok, I get the compact size but... spend it on something else.

Try one and let me know what yo think before I splash any more cash!!! (the 50 that is!)

Haha, will do! I'm still undecided in fairness.... I have the 1.8G off the Df kit and the 58mm so I'm well covered in that FL department!

In fairness it is, however 35mm and 58mm on a day out is quite a bag full of bricks... Mind you being self fulfilling budget wise as I have to be at present I guess I could sell the 28mm & 35mm 1.8 and wouldn't be too far away from that 105 (well, that's what I'd tell SWMBO anyway) ;):D

Do it, do it, do it! I want to have a go... pleeeeaase Mr! Tell her that you can blame me, peer pressure!

I never take random pictures and so I had a little stretch of the legs down the lane and snapped these relics. Decided to process differently too..

I've not been on the forum much of late as I've been out with the camera trying to capture the Red Deer rut at Woburn. I was quite fortunate to encounter this stag at sunset on Tuesday.

On another note I've also found the eye piece I lost last week! I had knocked it off taking the camera out of the bag and it was hiding in the bag. That was a bit of luck, I can see it going in the box as its far too easy to lose and the think tank eye piece I currently have on seems to be a lot more secure.

The high ISO capability of the 750 still amazes me, it's changed the way i shoot. Remember early reviews saying that auto ISO is set to top out at max which I though was crazy back then. Find myself doing the same these days. This was a snapshot yesterday of the little lady discovering the back of the sofa for the first time. There is some grain added in the preset but the detail at 7000 ISO is nuts.

F1.8 g nikon

Samyang f1.4 a/e manual focus

Sigma f1.4 art

Sigma f1.4

Owned them all. Twice sold the nikon f1.8g. Twice regretted it. Have the 85 art now though. I miss the size of the f1.8g and it just works great.

Samyang was great but manual focus

Older sigma f1.4 is good if you get a decent copy

Sigma art is ace but big and pricey

Thanks. I had discounted the Samyang, and the older Sigma's. The art is out of my range, but I will have a look at the Nikon 85mm f/1.8 .
I was thinking about taking a look at the new Tamron 85mm as well.

I have a nikon 85mm 1.8 and it is great, focus was spot on. Was also totally spot on at shooting at infinity. I just don't use it because it's a bit too long for a do it all kind of lens. I almost sold it but seems like they go for under 300£ so i decided to keep it for now. Always silly to sell a good lens, that performs perfectly and then regretting it!

They are amazing . defiantly going to look at that lens after seeing them .
thanks.

Why have you ruled out the older Sigma 85mm f1.4? I love mine, sharp and renders beautifully

I'd look at either the Nikon 1.8G or the older sigma version. Buying a secondhand siggy should rule out QA issues if you use a reliable vendor.

I had the old siggy when I shot Canon and was a cracking lens but probably nowt between them.

I have the Nikon 1.4G and honestly don't see any real difference between the 1.8G version (maybe build quality aside)

Very nice! You preferring the 1.8 to the 1.4?
Thanks. Never tried the f1.4. I have the Sigma 85mm f1.4 which I prefer, but went out for a walk yesterday with prime only for the first time ever and the 50mm is a better walkabout FL imo. These were just fired off whilst we were waiting for out friend to arrive for the walk ;)

Well me and the Mr`s went for a drive to the Alps for the day, 3 hours to get there cross country instead of the Motorway like we normally would.
This place is called Lac d`allos (lake of Allos) which is the small town a few km away.
This lake stands at (and it is the highest lake in Europe) 2230 metres at water level and we was more than likely at 2400 metres Max when this shot was taken.
Its a hike to get there, im 54 and ex smoker and at this Alt it was definitely taking my breath away so lots of stops on the way to the lake.
@KitsuneAndy This and all my pphotos there were taken with the IRIX 15mm 2.4.

Thanks to a good offer from MPB for my very low mileage D7200 and a couple of lenses I'm within striking distance of a D750 & 24-120 lens.

Thing is, am I going to miss DX, its all I've known and having taken just 2100 shots in 12 months I certainly don't need to upgrade.

Its a gas thing I know, but will I enjoy the jump to FX?

Decisions, decisions.

What David said.

I made the same jump as you, from D7200 to D750, and had no regrets. Tell a lie, I had one, and that was not buying the D750 in the first place.

OK. So Panamoz have the 750 with 24-85 for £27 less than with the 24-120.

I had thought the 24-120 was the lens of choice - am I missing something?

No you won't miss it as you can crop the D750 more whilst retaining good IQ and so the reach advantage is negated (I own the D750 and had extensive use of the D7200, and of course I tested this out ;))
