The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Another one from the British Camp, I did get a bit of colour in the sky in the end, the plus thing being out when the weather is not so good is that you quite often get the place to yourself.

That's a beautiful shot, love the colours and composition :)

Great shot, lovely balance of concerns and the sky is great. My only thought would be that a touch more green and less magenta in the foreground (only) might be worth a look. Them stones are looking quite purple. Then again, it may be the way they repeat the sky colours that makes the shot work, so I could be leading you up the garden path... :)

Thanks Dave, I have toned the Greens down but think I might have gone a bit overboard. I did remove the magnets in the stone but personally I preferred the shot with it in.

Superb Graham!!! Composition and slightly muted colours make this a cracker photograph, the XF14mm is a lovely focal length, I'm sorry I sold mine last year. Maybe my next XF glass purchase.

Regards;
Peter

I'm guessing you keep your camera's clock set to UK time (judging by the EXIF time stamp and a little local knowledge of where the shot was taken!)

One of my favourite views when dining, although it's usually darker by the time we eat at the Amphora. Often see the matching sea and sky colours at just the right time but never caught them.

My only criticism is that the horizon looks slightly squiffy.

I took a look at this with a grid, and actually it's not the horizon, which is pretty close. It's the harbour wall, which as you will know, is far from geometric!

But I've tweaked it so the top of the wall is more horizontal, as this shot is not exactly about photojournalistic levels of accuracy. You can see it if you click though to Flickr. Thanks for the spot, I think it improves the composition.

Does anyone shoot video with their X-T camera? If so what lenses do you use?

I've shot video with the XT-1 and various lenses. Obviously not 4K, but the 1080, 24fps is decent enough for random family stuff. I don't have any mics or silent lenses so I just manual focus. I haven't edited any video though, just viewed them through VLC player or the win 10 movie viewer .... windows live movie maker wouldn't display image for me so I gave up. You might need a fancier editing suite.

I have been reading this thread for a few weeks and enjoying the images and friendly advice and conversation, but as I took delivery of some black boxes a week ago it's probably time for me to stop lurking and

I currently have a Nikon D750 and various lenses but I'll be using the X-T2, 10-24mm and 18-55mm exclusively for the next two weeks as I'm on holiday and hopefully I'll enjoy learning my way around the camera. I'm already enjoying the smaller form factor and the traditional looks and dials, and hopefully I'll have some images to share soon. In the meantime, here's one I took at the weekend for my '52' challenge.

Cheers @Cagey75 for your input. I wanted to shoot some video with the X-T20 but the 27mm focus ring is very stiff so not sure how the other lenses in Fuji line up are. I manually shoot with the D750 and various lenses and they are far easier to pull focus. I was taking the X-T20 on holiday and wanted to make a family documentary type film but may have to look into using something else for video and leave the X-T20 for photos.

Take a look at davinciresolve if you want to edit your footage.

Love the perspective of this shot, reminds me of a place on the French/Swiss border I used to on my bike. I just look at it and think "knee down"!! :D

That looks like the kind of crazy hairpin they'd use on TopGear! Nice perspective, welcome to Fuji :)

Welcome aboard Andrea, good to have you on this section of TP. "Enjoy".(y)

George.

I decided to treat myself to a Fuji 50mm F2 and so far I have to say I am seriously impressed, not only by the optics but also by the sheer size ( or lack thereof) of it!

What a beautiful capture of the moment Greg, enjoy the lens too :)

0% finance at WEX too on GFX50S, the only problem is that the GFX-50T is bound to be launched before you've paid off the finance.

(Actually thats not the only problem, that would be the £250 a month, and you still need glass.....)
Go 50/50 with you????

Stop it, stop it, as the phrase says - Get Behind Me Satan

Its a big investment especially when you'd have to add - GF32-64mm at £1699 and GF23mm at £1849

Had a demo of this camera with a Fuji rep. Seriously impressive. Dynamic range is off the chart.

Really impressive what they have done with that camera. It’s no heavier than an dslr too.

What happened to the chance to borrow one? Is that still a goer?
(SWMBO is baulking at letting me go to Chernobyl so I'll have to be extremely creative to get one of these past her...and yes she does have an idea what gear I have and what it costs. Damnation!)

Lenses are huge though, saw the Fuji and Hasselblad versions, think I would choose the latter (not that I will be getting either)

Off to Chernobyl then?

Seen many photos of Pripyat, looks really good and definitely somewhere I would like to go.

Yes but if said that it was mine and you had it on loan, you might be ok.........

Thanks, Stephen :) Reading this thread helped my decisions and I'm enjoying them already.

Love the perspective of this shot, reminds me of a place on the French/Swiss border I used to on my bike. I just look at it and think "knee down"!! :D

Thanks, Steve, there was a car parked awkwardly to my right so it wasn't the exact angle I wanted but I think it shows the nature of the bend. It's at the start of the climb up the mountain on the IOM TT course and would definitely be "knee down" through there :)

That looks like the kind of crazy hairpin they'd use on TopGear! Nice perspective, welcome to Fuji :)

Thanks, Keith, I'm loving the gear already; just hope I get to know it properly over the next couple of weeks. Top Gear probably have been round there in the past as they have filmed on the TT course quite a lot :)

Welcome to the X family Andrea, I am sure you will end up loving the combo and I look forward to seeing more of your shots :)

Thanks, Dave. You're partly 'to blame' for my initial interest in Fuji :D

I'd just love to go. There are companies that do trips. Just got to fix the flights and hotels. I've seen a two day guided tour for $200. Seems reasonable. Not looked at flights/hotles yet. Got some domestice sweet talking to do first. Want to come? She doesn't know you so I can say it's your idea. You can use the same argument at your end!!!

Deep down I suspect I won't be allowed out. Am I man or mouse?

Just get the zoom and a bit of stiching for the wider shots [emoji16]
If i lived on bread and water for the next 2 years i coul afford that... i do need to lose some weight

No problem here with that sort of thing, got the ok for a solo trip to Canyonlands, my only concern with Ukraine is the civil unrest.

And you think America is safer????
I'll turn on what bit of charm I have and see how things pan out.
Did you manage get this morning's Daily Telegraph? Interesting? Or did you know all that stuff?
