Sony RX100

It arrived today, not impressed so far but that was just a quick test, I need to give it a proper test to see. :)
Nice little camera though in terms of weight & size.

That's the main appeal for me. Will it replace my d800. No way. Will I be more likely to take this with me on days out than the d800 and get better images than with my phone. Definitely!

Quick test, appalling subject, but it's late, love the articulated screen

The thing I totally forgot about with this little camera is the ability to bounce the flash - bounced it off a wardrobe door to create a bigger light source and used the flipped screen!

I have a Nikon D7000 a D750 and a Fuji X-T1 with a whole array of lenses that cast a small packet.
Which camera do I pick up for days out- the RX100. So much more pleasant to carry around, just slips nicely in my pocket.

I like this image quite a bit, but the sign confuses me. Are they dogs hence their perching on the sea front? [emoji23]

Yup, had my d800, sigma 35 and 85 art in the van but ended up using the rx100 as it slips in the pocket and I can transfer it to my phone to share. Love it! Perfect for trips away in the campervan. Have to explore the low light a bit more. Was a bit tipsy when trying the stars!!

Sorry, more pics from the travels in the van. Totally love the portability of it still. Transferred straight to iPhone from the camera and shared from there.

Very liberating just carrying it in my pocket. With still enough room for two spare batteries and a memory card!

From the phone? Not the RX100?

Oh I see!

You definately can get the stars, this is from last summer. Not the best due to the lights but hey ho

Just got the rx100V and after looking at some of these shots I think I'll be happy

Can you change the prefix? I have an RX100 IV and an RX10 iii, to avoid clashes of file names I changed the RX 10 file prefix from DSC to SON

I nearly pulled the trigger on a used Mk IV for £540 in excellent condition today... Seems like a good price. any thoughts?

Jessops selling the mklv for £699 and I think sony cashback is £100 until 03/10/2017 if I have my facts right. So only £50 more than your used and they come with a 2 year guarantee. I bought a mk3 and love it as a carry about camera.

Thanks. I'm considering an upgrade for my forthcoming holiday so that seems like a good deal. [emoji3]

Has anyone upgraded their RX100 MK1 to the 3,4 or 5? I'm looking to upgrade mine to get WiFi, the flip screen and faster lens. It's main use will be vlogging family time and snapping those moments. I have fancier gear but its not ideal with a small family hence always have RX100 with me. A phone only works so much and hopefully the Pixel 2 or LG V30 can double up for some gimbal stuff. Any pointers to which one to upgrade to? Thanks.

I read through this and it was quite useful... https://m.dpreview.com/articles/7237085229/spoilt-for-choice-which-sony-rx100-is-right-for-you

Anyone had any experience of claiming Sony cashback? Seems that there have been problems in the past and I'm 'thinking' about an RX100 III.

Thanks,
AL

I bought a RX1OO iii and my cashback arrived in my bank account about two weeks after claiming.
