Nikon D750 & D780

I was at the wedding the other week and got chatting to the photographer whilst he was having some down time.

He let me have a play with his D810 and i must admit, the view finder on it was nicer. Seemed bigger and not as narrow (don't know the technical term for this).

Must admit I would like an 810/850 at some point. I've never held an 810 and so how much more solid are they in feel?

I only held it for a couple of minutes, can't say it felt any more sold than my d750 if i'm being honest. I did notice it was a bit heavier, i think that was due to the lens, but i think naturally they are a little heavier.

Shutter noise seemed quieter than what i remembered my d750.

It was only really the view finder and shutter noise that really stood out for me.

I agree with this, the shutter is much better on the D810. I personally didn't feel any major build quality difference. It's there but subtle, it's not like you pick up the D810 and go "wow that's built like a tank". The grip on the D810 isn't as nice though, obviously YMMV. It's a shame the D850 doesn't have the same nice quiet shutter as the D810. I'd like to see a comparison against the D750 though to see if it's still quieter than that or not.

Bought a couple of Shanny 900SN's a while back.... would like to get them off camera if I can, would Yongnuo RF603's or something else do this?

Suggestions?

I used the same settings all day chasing the kids around, my mrs was my VAL.

-1 EV on camera

-1 FEV TTL on flash
AD200 with Mag-grid and Mag-sphere

Auto ISO and minimum shutter 1/200.

Few more here.

Lovely shots but is it the shots or me, are they compressed, there`s something happening around the edge of your kids?

Mobile phone uploads unfortunately

Yeah they'd work fine. I have one 602 transmitter and receiver if you want to have, that I don't use. Manual only but since getting the godox haven't used.

Still don't display properly Dan?

I’ve uploaded files around 2MB each, I usually link to Flickr but don’t have them on there, is there a size best to upload?

I usually upload all of mine to Flickr at 2048px then post here at 1024px. The larger file seems to work best on FB and so gives best of both.

Cool, I’ve uploaded 2048 straight onto here, will sort it now

Any better?

The compression has definitely gone but they don't quite look sharp like they should. What's your workflow for posting on the web?

Mines simple: Have a homemade action that reduces to 2048px on the longest side through PS (using fit image), sharpens using USM at 200%, 0.2 radius; fade to luminosity (suppresses the halo effect); change profile to sRGB. Then in Flickr copy the large file. LR's sharpening isn't so good. For large batches I'll export full sized jpegs into a folder and then run the folder through the action via batch process.

I simply just export for 2048 longest edge and use that, never seen a problem before when uploading my weddings to Facebook.

These same photos are also on my Facebook and looks tons sharper

What sharpening/NR do you use in LR before this process. I’ve tried using mogrify but it makes a bit of a mess of any other sharpening is introduced prior.

So anyone using the 18-35 on a D750? I'm looking for something wide to go with my 50 and 70-200. Not after a lens for low light, but there will be times when I want to shoot wider than 50 and wider than 35.

Don't want anything to big and heavy like the F4 version.
