Keeping warm and dry this winter

Scuba diving under layers works for me on my motorcycle in winter, maybe it would work for you outdoor togs too.

Had those pants on friday night.. also big boots. big coat, balaclava just for neck and chin.. thick wooly hat, gloves....... winters here :(

Winter arrived today with first snow of the season down to 1000m or so. In almost all conditions thermal leggings and ski pants, thermal top, fleece and ski jacket, hat and gloves are sufficient. Probably I’m moving about a lot more than for field sports. Gloves are from “the heat company” made for military in the mountains with mitten covers for finger gloves and Work really well. For sitting down in the cold I also have a Woolrich long padded jacket my wife found in a second hand shop for next to nothing and that is nice and warm. Have terrible memories of cold feet in welly boots that were far too big at firework displays...so proper winter boots are a must too!

Daft question but I've ordered some of the regatta trousers and they were really nice. I wanted to know what do people wear underneath them? Tried them on over jeans when they arrived just to check the length and they were snug I was thinking of wearing base layer long johns and maybe some shorts or are fleece tracksuit bottoms better?

I just wear normal pants (too old for jeans) ..I suppose it depends how cold the nights gonna be

BUT I would suggest somehting you can go home in.. if it pours down they are gonna be wet and the idea is to take them off after the match... not a good look leaving in your long johns :)

I can sit for two hrs in the pouring rain for a match..coat pants wet gear and camera covers...... So when i get to my car....all my camera gear and myself are dry.... dont want to be sitting in wet gear driving home
