Fuji x100/S/T/F Owners Thread

Just received my 7th or 8th TCL. Might try and make use of this one and keep hold of it

I'm thinking it's maybe time to part with the X-T2 and lenses :eek: It's just past it's 1st birthday and I've taken less than 1700 shots.
don't you think its time you sorted this gas business out.i can give you my therapists number if you want :ROFLMAO:

This is very true, but I shall be keeping my X-T2 plus some lenses as:-

a) I can shoot wider with ease
b) I can shoot with the 90mm F2
c) I get much sharper images with some of Fuji Primes (14, 16, 23 and 90)

But for most of my needs the X100F does the trick!!

yeah yeah :ROFLMAO:

I've recognized that the X100F as the main camera is the way to go for me BUT it won't do everything - it won't do wide and it won't do long. That is the reason I kept my X-Pro1/Samyang 12mm (no problems with autofocus here) and bought a cheap X-T1 for use with my 18-55 and 55-200. This for me is a cost effective way of catering for most needs and having a relatively lightweight quality 'compact' camera to carry with me when I'm out and about. ATM it is working and has (temporarily) cured my GAS. I did acquire a WCL but as before with my original X100, I am failing to see that it's of much use - but it does look good on an X100:)

The WCL just gives you that extra bit of width, I find it useful on things like city breaks, town visits, etc, where you don't always have the option to zoom with your feet. Given it's size and potability it's really easy to slip into a pocket.

And with the addition of a cheap (£10) 49mm fisheye adapter, with X100+WCL you can get a full circular fish-eye!!

I totally agree about it focusing the mind with regard to other kit. I'm having a daily battle of what to keep and what not to keep. My current struggle is with Samyang 8mm, Samyang 12mm, XF14mm and XF16mm, which 1,2 (or 3!!) do I keep, and does anyone have a crystal ball to know what the forthcoming XF8-16mm is going to rush me, and if I take that option, I'll need a whole new set of filters (currently have about £600 worth of Hitech Firecrest)..... At least you can never accuse this hobby of being boring.....

Just found one of these on fleabay - knabbed it for £17 delivered - just a bit of fun and something to play with over Christmas

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good user guide for the X100F please? Appreciate there's info all over the web and on this very forum but I've found the guides I have had in the past for my other cameras a good way of getting through the familiarity hurdle I encounter with new kit.

Apparently Santa won't let me have said camera until the 25th but I figured I can read the manual and a guide before that!

Thanks in advance

Dave

I didn't realise I'd used my WCL so much till I checked the Exifs of my holiday snaps. I'm still not convinced about the TCL, though.

Right I think I've sorted the I.q setting problem now I've com across another. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but I can't seem to get the digi teleconverter to work. I've set in to jpg and assigned to focus ring but its still not working. I've tried assigning the ring for other settings like wb and it works fine for all the others just not the tele?

Update: Yep something obvious. Only works in single shoot mode not burst mode. Nothing at all mentioned about this in the manual.

I shoot RAW+JPG, and have set Fn2 to RAW, that way I press Fn2, and the next image only is JPG, so I can use the digital teleconverter, it will then revert to RAW+JPG after that shot was acquired. And yes you are right, it doesn't work in any burst or bracketing modes

That's a great idea I might steal it.

Just got the T off here and quite like it, and more importantly the Mrs does as well. Started buying some toys and got a hood which does not cast a shadow if flash used

Was going to get a polariser but will have to run without the hood to adjust polariser (unless I can poke finger down hood to adjust?) keep reading lens is bad for flare so best with hood or polariser for that sunny day next year or is it possible to adjust with the hood on?

Will need to get an adapter as well to fit filter with the hood, anyone know where I can get an adapter at sensible price- without another hood

TIA

I have a very similar design of hood but it came with a filter adapter - the adapter screws onto the camera, the filter screws into the adapter and the hood fits over the filter and screws onto the adapter.

If you have other fuji x series cameras as well this is worth a download http://danbaileyphoto.com/blog/master-your-fujifilm-camera-with-my-x-series-unlimited-ebook/

An xtra bit of width is always welcome

Can someone please tell me why I should still retain my X-T2 when my main subject of interest is landscapes, in all forms including architectural and industrial? I certainly didn’t miss it when I was in the foreign.

Hello
I have ordered a lensmate thumb grip and soft release button. Total price in dollars is $92.73 this is broken down into $79.90 cost of goods and packing $12.83.

Iam being charged £21.25 customs charge so i can collect them,so just a word of warning really.

If anyone is an expert on these charges does the amount of £21.25 sound right ?

thank you

I can’t remember exactly how much I paid, but the Royal Mail took a hefty cut justt for taking the payment. Incidentally, they’ve yet to cah the cheque after 3 months. I think the total was around £18.

Thanks Stephen much appreciated makes me think twice about ordering from overseas again.

Here's a short list of why I'm keeping mine

Wide Angle Lens Options
WR
Tilting screen
Two card slots (I use backup for that warm secure feeling)
Nice big EVF
Up to 9 bracket exposures (yes you can do it with 3 x three bracket
Up to 15 timer mode (great for LE)
Super Blinky mode with latest FW
RGB histigram

Seems to me that X100 does all you need. If you’re not desperate for the cash I’d hang for a while before deciding.
Recently sold mine along with the fab 10-24.
Needed the funds for D500 and long lens.
Although my everyday needs are served by X100 something tells me I might buy my fourth XT series and that lens again when/if funds available.

In theory, you could probably manage quite well with just the X100F but there will be occasions when extra length or width would be desirable. I went for a low cost option here ( XP1/Samyang 12 and XT1/zooms) knowing that I wouldn't use them much. The flippy screen on the T1 is also useful for low down shots. I keep thinking of exchanging the T1 for a T2 but for me, the only advantage would be the extra MP and that doesn't seem much in return for a 3 fold increase in cost.

Only you can decide really :)

I've just asked for a quote from mpb for the xt1 and 18-55. Its going to be occasions it would have been handy but I'm not having it hanging around in a bag running the risk of lens fungus just on the off chance I may need it once and a while.

Thanks for all the valid comments. I suppose it all boils down to whether I need the funds, which I don’t at the moment. I do appreciate all the added features, even if I don’t use them a lot.

However, I am not helped by the (irrelevant perhaps) fact that “Kangaroo Valley Morning” has just made Flicker’s Explore.

Wow. Congratulations.

Kinda focuses the mind doesn’t it....or does it..
