It was flippin cold, the train was late and when it did arrive came tender first.....so it was another 25 minutes before it came back..

It was worth the cold wait!

It was, had I'd have checked the loco roster, I would have known the Black Five would come tender first - I think it's on loan from the KWVR.

Like #2 with it off out of sight in the falling snow.

Thanks, I was really hoping it would be one of their other steam engines, they normally arrive here (on the second image) engine first....

Are you going to KWVR on Tuesday/Wednesday next week?

I hadn't planned to, is there something special happening on the KWVR those days?

TLE are running photo shoots both days. Lineside access etc. Multiple passes of loco and set. Goods set on Tuesday and passenger on Wednesday. 8AM till 4PM. Tuesday is sold out but Weds have spaces.
I'll find a link if you are interested.
Based at Ingrow but travelling up and down the full line.

Edit...Using 4F 43924.

Trains almost everyday these days, Steam Gala is 3 days from 9th March. I'll be there for that!

That's interesting, the ELR have a Steam Gala the weekend before (2nd-4th Mar). I'm guessing that sorts out my weekends for at least 2 weeks. Any good places on the KWVR that are easy to get to? The only one I know is between Haworth and Oxenhope....

Probably the same spot I usually go, walk down from the A6033 Keighley Road, parking in the layby near the small brewery.
Theres a spot on the footpath just off Ebor Lane where you can get the train coming round a bend, also at 'Hoot Corner' on Mytholmes Lane next to the mill. Good for getting below the train as it comes over a couple of
viaducts.

I will be at the ELR to on the Sunday as I am a member there.

Oh yeh, 'Tornado' will be at the ELR from 29th March to 2nd April!

A6033 Keighley Road

The place I go is also on that road, except heading towards Oxenhope, there's a layby opposite Haworth Industrial Saws and a footpath on the same side that takes you down over Bridgehouse Beck and then under a railway bridge.

Yep, that's the place I go. It's a pretty good place to watch the trains and it's easy to get to. You get a nice view of the trains (engine first) coming from Haworth. I usually stand a bit further down the hill.

Yes, I do normally but I wanted a vid of Scotsman so I set up a little higher.
I often do the walk from Oxenhope to Keighley and take photos on the way as and when the trains appear, then catch a steamer back.
Very enjoyable!

Two very nice shots Sir, and well presented with a good punchy bit of PP work.(y)

George.

Does it need to be ?
When they publish a shot like that in the railway magazines it would be squared up. It probably was not square at the location a lot of railway locations are out of square but look better if some cheating is done.LOL

First photo Excellent . Quite like the other one too even if it is the back if the tender. B&W, good decision .Good for you for getting out there in that weather too.
