weekly Martin's 2018 52 Challenge

Really like Thick, you have captured the gloopiness(?!) perfectly.

Really like Thick, you have captured the gloopiness(?!) perfectly.

If something can be gloopy then it can also have a degree of gloopy so I think gloopiness is an admirable word. We could even come up with gloopiness a scale where 1 is not gloopy at all and 10 is Marmite (and I still don't know if I love it or hate it).

Brilliant gloopiness captured and defined in one morning, we are on a roll. I hate Marmite, but only because it reminds me of cod liver oil malt, with which my parents tortured me as a kid! (wot no violin smiley!)

Nice one Martin - spot on for theme and no mistaking a Bovril jar. Seems perfect distance and sharpness on the Bovril itself

Guard - great idea, but with the ultra shallow DoF I'm afraid it doesn't work for me...
Thick - great idea, great composition and crop and great light (y)

I like the idea, nice work

Good stuff - does what it says on the tin

Thick

I think a different coloured background would help, that said it fits the theme and is very thick.

Ouch. But yes a-bun-dance works!

:) quite like the juxtaposition of the bun against the telly/monitor. Lots of buns this week ;)

Loving your images for Guard(ed) and Thick, Martin (y) You've captured really strong textures in the metal of the fireguard and they stand out well against the hot colours of the flames behind, while the shallow DOF works well to concentrate the eye on the metal, which is the theme subject. Thick is an original idea and a fun image, perfectly showing the texture and thick stickiness of the Bovril!

Hi Martin

Sharp - Definitely looks very sharp! I prefer the wider shot, gives it a little more context I think
Guard - Really nice textures and colours in the metal complemented by the fire behind
Thick - I like this one, you have really managed to show off the thickness of the bovril
Abundance - This did make me laugh. Just put my image up and as I typed it I said to myself A bun dance, and said mmmm I wonder how I could do that :D

:)

Guard - I like the colours of the flame through the guard.
Thick - good capture the focus is right where it needs to be
A bun dance - Groan

Lighter one made me chuckle, trials one made me envious, I was always too fat for trials riding! Good shot though, maybe the background could of been a bit more blurred?

I would have been nice to have got some motion blur into the spokes, but the fact he's upright proves he's moving.
Cool shot and you got eye contact too :)

Try this one: Bit of camera shake but strangely the face doesn't seem to have blurred like the grass has.

Good eye contact with the first bike shot, I'm sure the rider would love a copy. Can I just ask was it raining? I assume thats what all the little white specks are in the top half of the image :)

Love the look on the little lads far too, so much concentration :D

And as for the lighter that gets a groan :D

Wet (tomorrow). It is snow and a bit of an abstract one this. I'm not sure it works but hey ho, it's a shot for a rather mudane subject.

Great wet image - soooo much better than my attempt at that for theme. So much so that I changed my mind. Lovely detail and idea

Martin

Like your Bike shots, first one more on theme with the heavy Mud, but I like the 2nd one better, more going on, good realistic colours, nice facial expresions, and just enought blur on the wheels.
Wet, think we have all had more thanm enough wet lately, nice take on the them.

Pete

Heavy - a Groan for the lighter, I love the concentration on the young lads face in the second bike shot.
Wet - lots of movement great take on the theme.

Juxtaposition. Little coffee maker, huge instructions.

This is only a third of the instructions and the paper is double-sided!

As always, I'm not sure I like it much.

Nice take on the theme Martin. The colour seems a bit washed out; is this an exposure issue with all that "whitish" paper perhaps.

No. SInce it was a bit 'meh' as a submission for the theme I thought I'd try one of the effects in Lightroom -- this one is 'Antique' apparently. When compared to the original it looks to be quite a pleasant improvement but I suppose the point of 'an improvement' is that it isn't one unless you can see it that it is one without resource to the original -- it would seem, ergo, that this is not an improvement. Back to the drawing board. :(

Wet image makes me shiver just looking at it...
Not convinced the Juxta shot quite says the theme, but its done and move on....

Hi Martin,

Wet - I wouldn't have guessed snow. I was thinking sparkler but puzzled by the light source. Interesting :)
Juxtaposition - It didn't jump out as juxtaposition without the explanation, but I can see your thinking and that's a mad amount of instructions!!!
