Yes
Just got an email from them about a sale and popped onto their Website and noticed the Godox V860 ll for fuji is 164 pound or something but is 141 from ebay UK seller with a bowen's fit speedlight adapter.

Do they price match?

They never used to unless things have changed recently, they do give the 2 year warranty on Godox stuff, and 3 year warranty on their own products, so that peace of mind is worth quite a bit :)

Why would they price match a grey import that is not paying VAT?

Mike

How do you know it's a grey import when it's a UK seller? How do we know theirs aren't grey imports? I'm assuming they all come from the same place.

Why don't you ask them?
I have. When there is a got any questions tab I expected a live chat but when I asked it said someone would get back to me. Not got time to wait a couple of working days.

It's certainly rare in this day and age so maybe worth the extra money.

You know what a Grey Import is?

Because I know the official importers that are paying VAT and they can not afford to charge that price on EBay

I do know what it is. The price difference is around £20. I'm sure there's more than enough profit to drop £20.

I know people get their knickers in a knot over grey imports but I don't. I'd rather see the money in my account feeding my family than being paid to the likes of the DUP by a government that couldn't give a s*** about most of the UK. They can make up the VAT shortage by using some of the money they saved by screwing the disabled. Oh wait they didn't save much because that was never the end game. They'd rather it went on court cases and to healthcare professionals who don't need it.

Unfortunately there is no WTF button, what you are stupidly missing is that if your gear goes wrong you have no warranty, £20 for a 2 year guarantee is a cheap price to pay and after your comments about healthcare professionals I will just leave you to make your own mistakes

He's not whining as far as I can see - he'd like to give the business to a well-established UK supplier instead of just taking the route of least resistance.

Yeah. the way to do that is to pay the price being asked by Lencarta.

Rather than whine, why don't you just buy it from your tax busting friend on Ebay?
Good idea. Do you know him/her? Are you just making an assumption that they're dodging tax? Instead of having a go at me why don't you report them and see if they're doing anything wrong. I'm sure HMRC would be all giddy about nailing such a big player.

It amazes me how often what is a relatively simple question asked on the forum can take a turn to snide comments.
Clearly the issue of 'grey imports' has been discussed to death.

Personally, I would seek to find the best value and it is my decision to determine the value of a warranty.
The OP was asking a simple question about a retailer and it has degenerated into a slander about his morals and the state of government.....

Why are most people being so obnoxious in their response? .

Ahh
The question is simple but the answer gets us into the territory of ‘grey market’ and associated tax evasion.

Particularly tricky for people who are part of a threatened ‘industry’.

Yes simple to answer, however there’s no need to be rude to someone. I bet the same people still use, or have used amazon, eBay, bought a coffee from Starbucks, the list goes on. I bet a good number of us own an Apple product, all tax avoiders, but yeah let’s preach and be rude to a guy about it for asking if someone price matches

Agreed. Probably wouldn’t have the same response if he’d asked them face to face!

I didn’t suggest people should be rude, just explaining the mood.

Amazon are cheaper than Lencarta also. What you think of them? Tax busters or what?

Yes they most likely are which is why HMRC have had new laws introduced and hopefully they will stop many of these

How do I know they are? I have inside knowledge on trade price from the factory etc.

I'm sure Scott is more than capable of sticking up for himself.
That's the problem with this country these days, too many people are offended on someone elses behalf.
And before you say it, I'm not saying that gives anyone the right to be rude.:)

Well, I can't answer for other people, but if you read Private Eye you'll see lots of accounts of money being wasted (or siphoned off) to organisations that allegedly shouldn't get it...
But, I don't think that that's the point, there will always be mismanagement and corruption in public life.
The point, as I see it, is that there should be a level playing field, in which all sellers of both services and equipment play by the same rules, and the simple fact of the matter is that neither Amazon nor Ebay seem to be doing much to stop overseas sellers evading both VAT and import duty, and anyone who buys from them is adding to the problems, starving our country of revenue and making it impossible for legitimate sellers to pricematch.

And it doesn't help when some manufacturers care nothing about customer service, and whilst fixing their own factory prices at a very high level, allow dodgy sellers to sell at prices that allow either a modest profit (when paying taxes) or customer service, but not both.

I wasn’t referring to the whole post, just to the specific part about healthcare professionals. It wasn’t clear what he was alluding to and I wanted some clarification. Benefit of doubt and all that......

Well if I asked you how to break the law on something you have a problem with but something I'm cool about should I expect a happy or an unhappy response?

My point if nothing else is it's a thorny subject that's going to offend people and best handled with delicacy (on both sides) or not at all.

For the record guys I'm not offended in the slightest. I don't really get offended easily but I wasn't suggesting that Lencarta should price match either. I merely asked if they did.

Care to elaborate?
Sure thing. The people who are paid to strike disabled people off PIP are likely to need the money less than the people they're ensuring are thrust into poverty. Anything else you'd like to know?

I think in these times grey imports are way down the list of things we should worry about.

I'm confused. Healthcare professionals are being paid to strike disabled people off benefits??
