How do i get rid of slugs?

i used to get trails in my garage but never in the house (it is attached). It was driving me mad as I'd regularly go in there late at night, they were toying with me. Anyway, in a two week spell I chased 3 down and murdered them with salt, and that has seen them off. There were loads of trails but it seems there was only three of the little scamps.
I get snails in my conservatory (may come on plants) but though there is nothing stopping them coming into the house they never have.

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that 'sluggy' is no more, at some point last night he committed suicide as i found him in the middle of my salt trap :)

He was a really small specimen, nothing like the ones i've seen in my garden, hopefully this is the end of the slug saga, only time will tell...

And he made a right mess on my floor :)

I had a problem with slugs last year, a real pain they are. Just read up on them, and it seems slugs lay eggs in the Spring, and take a few weeks to hatch. So, we will all be inundated with them again soon. :(

Update for anyone who's interested.

So i've not seen any evidence of slug activity since my last post in this thread on the 20th of Feb...

Until yesterday morning :(

After filling every minute hole behind my settee, one has now appeared, and seems to have come out from behind the front outside wall next to my tv, so yesterday i meticulously filled every hole around the skirting board on that wall too.

This morning there is no evidence at all.

The fight continues...

It's back :banghead:

I can see me spending another day filling in feckin holes.

I occasionally find them dried out on our floor in the morning. We have underfloor heating.

If it was an option for me to have that installed i would.

Clearly - the answer to your original question was

<< With great difficulty >>

You have my sympathy

Update for anyone interested, no signs of any slugs for over 4 months now :D

They’re biding their time until the wet weather comes:(

I looked out of the landing window at about 4am this morning, and there was a big fat brown one sitting on the glass.
I'm guessing they're looking for winter quarters.

One thing for sure........................not with chemical pellets. But you know that don't you ;)

I didn't open the window to knock it off, in case all it's mates were waiting out of sight to rush me when I did.
 and it amazes me when I see snails not only many feet of the ground on plant leaves but also at varying heights up walls......in the case of walls, where the heck are they heading???
