Totally disgusting south London police

Same law applies but in practice , the main issue is the interpretation of behaviour.

The family ARE a rag tag band of CRIMINALS but placing flowers at the site of a death happens as a matter of course in the country.

You could find an argument that the main aggression is coming from the onlookers - SERIOUSLY?

The simplest solution is for people not directly involved to stay away and let the matter fade - WOULD YOU SUGGEST THAT THE WHOLE STREET IS REHOUSED FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY THEN?

I hope that you didn't mind me altering a few words, because I think your moral compass needs resetting.
Just to remind you.
The Vincents are the criminals, not the residents of that road.

No problem with that ....

However, he wasn't stabbed there and he didn't die there.

The family are behaving in an antagonistic manner by deliberately placing the flowers opposite the house to generate maximum hostility and publicity.

So you know that all the ‘Vincents’ are criminals? How? From the newspapers?

And yes I do take offence at you altering my post - ask you question in your response as you drifted into altering my post to look as though I had posted it.

Furthermore, my moral compass was considered balanced enough for my being selected for training as a magistrate which I duly did. So no I do not jump to conclusions or follow a mob mentality, I consider each issue in a wide context and am neither am I educated or influenced by the media.

Absolutely agree with you and in no way am I condoning their actions. They certainly got the reaction expected. It may also be considered a form of harassment but try to prove it.

Sadly people think that the Police can arrest or enforce any anti-social activity, they cannot.

It is why the law is as complicated but also as detailed as it is.

If you are in the mood, try this stripped down version of 1 piece of legislation then look at it in it’s entirety.

Are you seriously suggesting that I altered your post in a way which suggested you had posted it, despite it being blatently obvious that I had changed the colour of the text, and actually stated that I had changed it?
You must have been a wonderful magistrate:D

So now you drift into insults! Obvious or not you altered my post and I take issue with it. Maybe a moderator may wish to adjudicate? Shall we RTM the matter? An apology from you will suffice, let’s face it I have not drifted into insults.

Saw a comment elsewhere: "When I read that they felt it appropriate to attach the tributes to a fence, I burst out laughing. It does seem highly appropriate given that he relied on a fence for most of his working life."

Of course - none of this would have happened if the person who has died, had not been attempting to enter , and possibly remove some of the contents thereof , from the house of a gentleman who had not invited him in !!

Elvina Lee, who said she was Mr Vincent's first cousin, said: "I don't know what's wrong with these people [who took them down].
"He wasn't a murderer, he wasn't a rapist, they're putting him as a monster."

I've seen monsters Inc. A monster is something that attacks/scares you in your house in the middle of the night.

I suggest that you grow up and jog on.
You must have seen far worse crimes in your time as a "magistrate":p

You know you can’t see colour changes if you use the app?

Are you seriously telling me, that the latest up to date technology - smart (or in this case not so smart) phones and their "apps" do not allow their users to see full information?
So glad that I have an old "dumb" phone, and use a PC/Laptop for all my computer uses.

Grandad :D
You have to be part of the always connected generation. For the majority now they don't use a computer to access the internet but a mobile instead through Apps for social media, TP etc

I’m telling you the app doesn’t recognise the colour tags. It’s not tricky

Pathetic

You rip into me personally

You misrepresent what I posted

You decide the to mock

Perhaps you need to grow up yourself and learn how this country is constituted.

Whatever you believe should happen is fine but the actual structure of the ‘rules’ is the result of hundreds of years of test and argument. If you do not like the reality then change the system. In the meantime make an effort to understand how the ‘British Constitution’ works. We are long past mob rule. It is by no means perfect so change what you fo not like. You have the power, use it.

Just for completeness, the App on my Android 8 phone does show the colour changes in the offending post.

That's not to say all phones/tablets will show the change though.

My android phone does not on android 7.

Met police Deputy Commissioner Sir Craig Mackey has said the flowers tribute should be left alone and respected
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/lon...d-burglar-henry-vincent-must-be-a3811926.html

Both sides are now seeing this as a provocative act.

He actually said he would have preferred that the flowers were not laid there as well ...

Sir Mackey said while the burglar's death was a "tragedy" for his family, he would have preferred they had not laid flowers near the scene.

"It would have been preferable if the pavement had remained clear and the local area had not become the focus of disruption which then needed police resources to manage," he said.

@Hugh Jarse @andy700

Steve, Andy, in no particular order, can we draw a line under the insults?
Thanks.

As for the App and colour tags, I really have no idea, as I'm as @Byker28i likes to put it "Granddad"
I prefer Dinosaur personally. ( they have bigger teeth :p )

But from the comments in the thread it seems some devices do and some don't

YES IT DOES !!!!!
Have just checked on five devices at home all OS latest versions.

Have just rechecked on my IOS items all five and it does.

Heres a screenshot from my iPhone 5se running iOS 11.3 and latest version of the app. It doesn't show any red from Andy's modifications

It seems reasonable that not all version of the app/operating systems respect the tags

I have now ZERO respect and trust in the UK police. It wasn't like that maybe 4-5 years ago. Zero trust in the government too - they are the real culprits of police going astray.

I bet they’re losing sleep over that

Not as much as inventing fake Russia this, Russia that stories. Anyone know a good nuclear bunker for hiding just in case?

.......... Anyone know a good nuclear bunker for hiding just in case?

No, I think they have all been sold off.........and even if accessible they were built to defend against a different "generation" of weapon. So more likely a tomb than an ark ;)

Feel free to leave, I’m sure you’ll not be missed :)

They always were destined to be tombs. I'd rather be snuffed by the original blast than suffer through either starvation or radiation sickness.

I'm not a great fan of the police myself, and certainly not of the senior ranks - but let's be realistic - their jobs are becoming more and more complex and they are having to work with reduced resources. It simply isn't true to say that they have become worse in the last 4-5 years, in fact they have become more efficient and seem to me to be trying much harder than, say, 20 years ago.

I'd agree with that 100%, most of the police officers I know are very frustrated with the rules they have to work by, the CPS decides if a prosecution goes ahead, rather than the police officer themselves. And whilst it can be disappointing when some crimes do not get investigated as we would wish, it is simply a matter of economics. I was at a workshop recently which was discussing carrying out surveillance of suspect terrorists, it was quoted that to surveil one suspect for 24 hours would need 30 officers! Imagine the cost for that.

It is like many things in this country, we* want to buy everything for nothing, be paid top wages, pay little in tax, but want gold plated public services when we need them. Unfortunately the sums don't stack up.

* Not everyone, but a large majority judging by what I see online**
** Not a very robust analysis....

Going back to the original post for a bit

From a report I saw [ and I honestly can't remember where ] this morning , there is to be a big traditional Gypsy type Funeral , horse drawn hearse etc and lots of very very expensive flowers , for the stabbed man - going past ??

Yup - you got it , the boarded up house !!

How many cops is it going to take to ensure that all passes peacefully ?

Just found the link - it was one of these linked to x which linked to y [ I was following something else ] and then I got https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/...ser_Text_Story2&utm_campaign=daily_newsletter
