Yay. My second Sony camera, A7mk2 arrived complete with nifty fifty.

My first was a DSC F717 (2002)

Lol, not quite….

I have decided that I am going to get the Sigma 105/1.4 Art on the E-Mount and not Canon……Going to shoot people/portraits with it, so eye focus and with the size and weight, IBIS will help. It makes sense to get it on the E-Mount.

Sorry Canon, I feel like I am cheating.
I think I'll do the same too

I don't think it does.... Sony is becoming a top player in the professional photography segment.... the have done so much with the FE system since its launch of the Sony A7.
We are only on the 3rd generation of A7 series and look at where it is at with the A7 III.

:D

Hold your horses. Look at images from the Commonwealth games where you can see all the cameras. How many Sony’s do you see? Look at the images of Ant leaving court yesterday, loads of cameras to be seen in all the images. No Sony.

I do think Sony are producing amazing stuff, and I would love to own another Sony. But they are not yet a top player in professional photography. At least in those two major pro segments.

Reading this forum you’d think no other cameras existed ;). I do think they will get there though.

As i said this morning.

Sony are not there yet for Sports and wildlife photography in a professional sense.

For everything else, they are there and if you are not a pro, the 100-400 lens is good enough for wildlife and sports for many people.

Obviously they're just waiting for their pre-orders to be shipped.

I have not owned a single camera body for that long :D

the one I have owned the longest is my current one (A7RII) which I have owned for 1.5 years :eek::eek:

Do you always sell them?

I kept my first film camera, best thing is I can put my latest Canon lenses on it.

yup end up selling to swap or upgrade... though mind you I have not been buying gear as long as you. I got my first own DSLR just 5 years ago.

I think I went through 5 years without buying a camera once, during either the 5D2 to 5D3 or 5D3 to 5D4 I didn't get any cameras, compact or otherwise. These damn long 5D life cycles…..

probably because you spent the time using your camera for photography and not worrying about gear, knobs, bells and whistles.
I sometimes find myself spending too much time with these things rather than photography (this forum doesn't help :p )
I have gotten better recently though, I have stopped swapping bodies generally speaking. i have no plans to upgrade my A7RII unless I come across a really good deal on A7RIII which is unlikely. I still swap lenses regularly though that is purely because I can't afford to keep many lenses and things I shoot changes.

I am more a lens person than a body person, I get excited more by a fast prime than 30fps.

Eye-focus AF is the first piece of technology that really got me interested enough to try something else.

Eye-AF is certainly my most used feature these days. I am also attracted by fast glass more recently. Trying to buy a Zeiss 35mm/1.4 :D

I'd love to own the canon 85mm f1.2 one day but currently I can't put it to good use. I need something that focuses fast, so am sticking with 85mm f1.8.

they will be but I imagine for his use case he'd want it to be 'native-like' rather than 'adapted-like' performance

edit: just as I thought, read Raymond's reply below :p

But what he implied was that the other mounts won't have those functions. Not that they may be slower.

Yeah I’ve had the 602s too. 685s are definitely nicer, for really not much extra cash, if you were ever considering.

Mine have equally been through several amps - currently running through a Beresford 2ch switching unit, so I’m able to use the same speakers to run my 7.1 Sony AV amp and at the same time, switch to my Arcam Stereo amp running the Pro-ject turntable. Works a treat, if that’s something that would be of use to you!

You forgot the handbags a while back. ;)

Thanks Toni yes and the bl...dy bags :D

I didn’t mean it imply that way as I know all functions work via adaptor since I have the adaptor and have a Sigma Art 50. It wouldn’t be logical for me to think it wouldn’t work for the 105.
