Nikon D750 & D780

Going to the Lake District in August. Thinking I will definitely want to have picked up something wide by then!

Not sure how to interpret that [emoji12]

Was it a zoom wide angle needed or a fixed mm lens?

And comes in the most ridiculous lens case.
I’m going to have to google that now ;) Is it as ridiculous as the 24-70mm hood?

Edit: Just seen the case, tbh that’s what I’d expect with all of Nikon’s pro lenses rather than the less protective thick material ones.

The 24-70 hood may be ridiculous but it does a nice job of protecting that zoom-y out bit :D also makes you look Pro :exit:

Well true, there is something disappointing about spending so much on a lens and it coming with a cloth bag

Yeah. Obviously they’re better than the soft cloth ones you get with non pro lenses, but for the price of the 24-70 and 70-200mm for example you’d expect something much more robust.

Award for ridiculous lens hood... 16-80 is surely a contender!!

I liked the 16-80 hood, especially the bit which you had to press down to release it.

Sold it though but is a very versatile lens

Big square thing was hideous IMO lol.

24-70 and 70-200 2.8s have clicky in button hoods too!

@JJ! Are you after a zoom or fixed focus?

In the old days even cheap lenses came in hard 'leather' cases.

If you want ridiculous, look at the flight cases the long telephotos come in!

I still haven’t decided lol. Probably the 18-35 as it’s a bit more versatile.

My most used lens is my 24mm - 85mm, did look at the 24-70 f2.8 in LCE in Hereford last weekend, but it’s heavy, so decided to stick with the 24-85. I also have the 18-35, but don’t use it very often at all.

But that hood makes you feel like a proper togger when you use it.

Was asked to a picture for a 60th birthday present, 6 children. Funny how these things work out in practice, we definitely had the light but even an hour before sunset the sun was a tad too strong shooting into it, I'd positioned them with a tree to block some of it, but the little one on the end was bored after the first, my gags didn't work so well. The final image here is inevitably, a composite, to get the expressions and the two on the end have been completely added. Only thing with this composition, and worth remembering, is that I've shot too tightly for the intended canvas. There's no allowance for the wrap. But I can faff with another and add a bit I'm sure. Shot on the 85 at 2.2, so at least they're all on the same plane.

Anyone noticed the space bar isn't working as the hand tool in the latest PS CC update? Had a quick look on the net, and although there seems a problem on previous versions, can't find a fix.

Which one are you using at the moment?
The 85 is the only one of mine I want to upgrade now

I was thinking something similar, currently using 1.4D which is ruddy nice, but does need abit of a contrast boost at times

Haven’t used mine for months until this week. Just the focus accuracy isn’t as good as the rest, but when you do nail it . It’s too handy a FL to give up though.

85 is bloody nice, is it the 1.8G you’re using at the moment?

I have the 85 F1.8G and while it's sharp, there is significant CA at times, unless I have a ropey copy. Don't use it that often to worry about it, but would like to upgrade it to 1.4G, but it can wait.

1.4D can be a bugger for CA too, but only in backlit situations if you’re really trying! Nothing that can’t be sorted in 2 seconds in lightroom though. Those out of focus areas make up for it nicely though, that and it’s the most accurate AF in a lens I’ve ever used!

Have you considered the Sigma Art? Meant to be nice too! Albeit abit of a beast
