I'm sure this is pretty easy but I don't want to get it wrong and break something.

Every time I go to an Amazon link or type "Amazon" in my browser I actually want to go to smile.Amazon.co.uk instead of www.amazon.co.uk (because who wouldn't?). Can I fix my computer somehow to do this? I have a vague memory that you can edit a localhosts file or something. Oh, it's a Mac, obvs :D

Hmm, it seems there are plenty of options in the Chrome store - but none for Amazon UK yet. C'mon coders......

Plenty of options for what ? Everything you need to do this is on your Mac.

The IP address being returned for smile.amazon.co.uk is 52.94.217.236

I have Amazon (Smile) on my Favourites (? Bookmark?) bar and when I went to Smile rather than "straight" Amazon, I deleted the old button and resaved the Smile address. Obviously it doesn't redirect me if I click on a link but it does get me there!

Not from my IP it isn't. It's coming back as 52.94.221.139 for me. Also, when I go to either of those IP addresses I get a warning that they aren't secure. I don't know enough about this stuff to know if a straight IP redirect is what I need.

That would work :) But I'm in the habit of just typing "ama" in the browser and it gets there.

The IP address varying is one the the problems as amazon will have various traffic management strategies.

I’ll have a look around for any software or script that would do the job for you.
