The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Thanks very much mate. That was a great help. I don't think the bokeh looks bad at all. I do have the 56 and 90 so I'll give them a wee test later with a similar subject and see.

I was reading last night that it's really snappy for focusing. Have you found that to be the case?

Regards

Scott

Hi Scott. Choosing between the 56 and the 90 in terms of AF speed and street photography, which one would you choose? Thanks

I think the 90 is definitely quicker and it's stunningly sharp and will certainly help with candid shots. The 56 renders photos beautifully and will certainly give you more of the environment within them if you wish.

Probably not really a right or wrong answer although when you put the distance between you and your subject that you require for the 90 then you generally have quite a few members of the public in the shot.

If I'd to choose one it would be the 56 just because of its versatility.

What's the 80 Macro like in general use (not just macro)?

“Excellent” Sir, not the fastest to auto focus but still pretty quick, I also have the 90mm and the 80mm is a tad sharper. Personally I prefere the 80mm to the 90mm.(y)

Thanks for that, George. Just need to find one second hand...

I may well move mine on if I can find a 50-140 to replace it. Whilst it's a great lens, I think I will get more use out of the telephoto zoom. Takes great portraits, maybe not a good as the 90mm, but still produces nice colours & good bokeh.

Have to say that I'm more a zoom user than primes and not too worried about ultra shallow DoF so the slower zooms suit me fine, hence my use of the 18-135 as a walkaround. It does distort a bit but that's to be expected, even from a Fuji XF!

If you do decide to shift the 80mm, let me know when you stick it in the classies. ;)

Found some excellent Fuji graphs. Not sure what they were shot on but they're of Fuji!!!

A little Google-fu tells me that he shoots ON Fuji !
Rather appropriate given his chosen subject (IIRC, Fuji is Japanese for mountain.)

Hey George! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment yet again. Much appreciated.

Guys,

This is just a wee heads up as i know a few people have commented that they're interested in some things i've said i'm selling but i can't remember the who and whats. On Monday coming i'll be listing most of my gear to put the money toward converting my garage to a studio. Included in the listing will be an XT2, XT20, 56 and 16mm lenses. I am going to purchase an XT1 with 50-140 and put the remainder of the money toward the project. I will obviously be interested in the XT1 and 50-140 as trades. This might seem like a step backward but i'm hoping it's temporary as i can't face pulling my house apart every time i want to shoot a portrait or baby shot. this will be for the greater good hopefully.

Regards

Scott
