OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

It is in very good condition. There's a couple of scratches on the bottom and the on/off/self timer switch doesn't really have any click stops anymore but other than that it's fine. A couple of dust spots in the lens that I'm sure won't affect anything. Pretty pleased with it for £45 off eBay with a rubber lens hood and skylight filter thrown in too. It only arrived last night and I've already nearly put a film through it just to check it all works.

It's very different from my EOS 80D but I fancied something much smaller for holidays and general photography, and I liked the idea of manual focus lenses and not getting the instant gratification of digital photography.

It's also worth looking for the manual adapter to allow full control of exposure. Lenses are really good!

I doubt that you will be disappointed by the Zuiko lens. I had a 35RC and used it on holiday with some Kodak Tri-X. The results were beautifully sharp, certainly better than I expected.

I did some research on the Zuiko 50mm and it does seem to be a great little lens, I'm looking forward to seeing the results I get with it.

The first one I went for did have the manual adapter included but sadly I missed out on that particular camera. I do want the adapter though, and a 28mm f2.8 lens as well. There seems to be a big price difference between the 28mm f2.8 and 28mm f3.5 lenses, is there a big difference in image quality beyond losing a stop of light on the f3.5 version?

A new toy for Janet to try out (and me as well ;))

Contax 139 Quartz with a Yashica 28-85mm ML lens. The camera has been given a new claret leather cover and new light seals, the lens is a beautiful thing, buttery smooth focus ring. There's also a Zeiss 50mm f1.7 lens on the way.

Did you spot I was using a 139 at meet at the peak...mind you was using a Tamron zoom as Contax lenses are very expensive and didn't want to get Yashica lenses and duplicate what I have already for other cameras, but did pick up a 135mm ML..nice lens but nothing special compared to my other 135mms.

Jan has also bought a very nice Zeiss 50mm f1.7, we're going to poo a film through it this weekend to see if she likes it better than the Nikon fg.

That looks in great condition and nice looking camera.(y)

Having convinced myself for over a year that I do not need one of these, I crumbled after being offered this one for a very good price......

So my F4S will be going onto the classified section, once I get my head around operating the F5...
You really need to be keeping both then adding all the other single digit F series.

Lol............ I wish. I have a 1967 F that is a keeper, and have thought long and hard about a nice F2 and F3, but it then becomes a bit of a nuclear arms race to acquire the whole professional line up...

I've been bitten by the medium format bug after acquiring a nice Bronica set up, so for now this will be my last (famous words.....) 35mm body (both fingers firmly crossed).

This will keep company with my FA & Canon F-1n for the time being.

I can't imagine getting rid of my F4. A great brick of a camera!
I've been very impressed with it and it makes it easier going around with one set of lenses with my D600.

I don't disagree with you, and mine has the optional MF-23 control back.

I recall comments about the original F being able to be used as a camera & club, and then still take great pictures. The F4 certainly lives up to the original reputation....

The F5 was a itch that needed scratching, and time will tell if I made the right decision......

I was thinking about getting an F3 sometime...
but that will be after I get a new 24-70. I'll probably get the Tamron G2 version

The last of the Nikon Pro film camera bodies :) Nikon designed the F6 for serious amateurs as digital had then taken over as the Professionals choice. Lovely camera (F5)

Just bagged an Olympus Trip 35 from a charity shop next to where I work for £9.99. Poor thing was sitting in the sun with no lens cap so I took pity on it. It wasn't there yesterday so hadn't been there too long at least. All seems OK. Red flag comes & goes when I put my hand over the selenium cells. Off to Poole on Friday so will load it up with Vista for a test Have ordered a lens cap for it from ebay.

I have the F5 and when paired up with the Nikkor 50mm f1.8 AF,it is a wonderful combination. Enjoy.

Another analogue treat has made its way here. Completely overhauled with new bright screen and it came with a few accessories (case, lens hood & some filters) in its (presumably) original Rollei box. It's the 3.5E with Xenotar lens and in remarkably good condition for its age. I've rushed one roll of Portra 400 through already and now I'm trying some expired Reala, looking forward to getting the film's developed!IMG_20180523_160728_737-1024x1024.jpeg

Lovely. :)

There's been some changes here. My Hasselblad 500cm has gone to someone on eBay. :(

Said no more cameras but gave in and bought a high end 35mm compact, which I won't say too much about because people will tell me they are overpriced, 35mm, etc, etc.

Also managed to pick up a cheap Canon Sureshot A1 which I can take on holiday and have in waterparks, the sea, the pool, etc. Just spent a few minutes modifying the DX codes on some film so they overexpose them all a stop. :D

I almost gave up on the Rollei when you posted your Hassy for sale. In the end I decided that I've wanted a Rolleiflex for longer and it's more portable/ suited to my current wants/ needs in a camera.

There's no shame in buying a high end compact. There are a few that I'd love to own but I just couldn't justify the cost to myself. If you can afford to take the risk and you will get enough use from them then why not have one. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a 35ti at some obscenely low price in the meantime.

H'mm what do you call a "high end compact" as I've played with quite a few from Nikon, Canon, Minolta, Olympus etc to collectors item Yashica T5 with Zeiss lens and can't see much difference from the results....mind you haven't enlarged to poster size or pixel peeped for CA etc.

My guess is the 'high end compact' is the wonderful Leica M2 that is pictured on the previous page? (Worth every penny IMO & I will own a Leica M series one day no matter what anyone says about them!)

The Hasselblad was a lovely camera but my MF needs are well covered now. I’d still love a Rolleiflex one day. Hope you enjoy it.

Which have you played with that you would regard as high end then? I have no desire to pixel peep for CA or enlarge to poster size so none of that is relevant.

A Leica M isn't a compact camera. My guess would be something Contax.

I still have my M3 but like Steve says, it’s not a compact.

Or one of those little Rollei things?

Dunno which you mean? The little Rollei 35? My friend had one once but nope.

Well except for the Yashica T5, the others I've played with some might have been high end when they first came out like Nikon L35 AF (suppose to have a fantastic lens) also Olympus XA-II....but IMO the most important part of a fixed lens camera ..is the lens and as mentioned couldn't see any difference in the results i.e. sharpness...The big companies got the optics and exposure right and all were very good. Different story with compact zooms and the only zoom I played with was the Olympus 105g and IMO was only good in comparison.
Anyway guys here are posting some VG shots with compacts from £5 to £20 (or whatever) and any of those cameras used would be good enough if I was interested in compacts as I gave all my ones away or gave them to wife as a joke ( well the joke was her saying OH NO! not another camera)..but have kept the T5 as it seems to be a collectors item.

The M2 is mine, not Gaz's. As lovely as it is it's not exactly a compact. I'd describe it as a portable brick. With the Summicron DR attached you certainly know that you're carrying it around. All that brass is surprisingly heavy for a smallish camera.

Whooa there, you are talking real money now.

Taken with the Olympus Mju II I got last week at the flea market for £2 (that included 34 unused exposures on the already loaded film and a working battery), Not counting in another £1 for my C41 chems.
Lucky devil, I've fancied trying one out as an everyday camera to keep in my work bag. Unfortunately I've never found one under the £100 mark (usually they are much more expensive).

The Rolleiflex is really nice to use, I've had 4 rolls through it now and after the first 2 I started to pick up speed. I bought mine from a Rollei specialist in Germany. Definitely worth it if you ever have the chance to get one.

Have a look at a Canon Sureshot Supreme instead, expect to pay between £5 and £15 for a fully working one in VGC if you look around. I keep one in the door pocket of my car in case I need it. Not an all weather camera but if you break one at that price just get another!
