Finally got my D800 back from the repairs and re-broke it in with some views over the Alps today.

Really happy how this came out despite the slight backlighting and flaring. I know there isn't much in the way of notable landmarks or interesting things, but I love the way the clouds are flowing over the mountains, a river of clouds to the left in the valley and all the layers of mountains in the mist.

Editing and composition tips appreciated!

Lovely shot but me, I prefer to be in the Alps, well I am living not too far from them. Is that the Sea/coast to the bottom left ?
The Flaring does not bother me but the banding/pixeling to the top right does and as I have said in another thread, I am seeing this more and more now and to be honest, it`s ruining lovely shots like this one.

Good spot. I believe the water is just one of the lakes, but without a GPS tag I couldn't tell you which one. I love the Alps too, would love to spend more time there, I absolutely love being amongst mountains.

Which banding is it you're talking about? It was shot with the sun just out of frame and through a nasty plastic window, it could just be scratches sadly but the top right does ruin the shot sadly.

Strange, I didn't think the lakes in the alps were that big, to me that looks more like the sea, saying that, I wasn't on the plane so I got no idea where it is.
Top left, its the PP work that's been done I think that causes it.

Lake Geneva and Annecy are pretty big tbh - Loch Lomond plus - from the air they'll be quite striking, and sadly rarely mill pond still without ripples.
