This looks amazing and should be a good upgrade over the Mavic Pro.

I've ordered the Pro version which I hope to get next week, I'll post some thoughts and sample footage when I get it.

Is it actually available for delivery ? Normally on back order release day

Yup not sure about now but when I ordered DJI said delivery in 3-5 days. Independent stores just have them listed as pre-order at the moment.

There was me just getting round to thinking about a Mavic and the Mavic 2 comes along  what's the thinking on the Zoom version vs the Pro version? Would the zoom be of much use? I imagine in most circumstances you could just fly closer.

There’s a lot of reasons having the pro, have had a few equations where zoom would of been really useful BUT I would take the better camera over zoom always, the pro is great but Camara takes a lot of skill to get right, I mean you can always zoom in PP, and having a better sensor will give you more scope.

As for ideas, you could say places/circumstances where the noise or laws prohibit you from getting close and the zoom would help on this, structures requiring 150m minimum distance etc

Thanks for the info, I'm still a bit undecided because I am tempted to build my own drone and use my Olympus EM5 ii on it which would give me a much better camera all round. The thing that puts me off is the unknown cost and hassle of doing something like that.

Don’t overlook the Mavic Pro, really great drone, camera is more than capable once you learn its usage ( same as all cameras) and I’m sure the price will go down, a tidy second hand one with loads of bits will be about £800, I have seen plenty fly more with little hours for £6/650.

It’s a hell of a drone for that money, don’t use mine as much as I’d like living with raf/helicopter base near me but it’s more than capable of stunning images.

I opted for the Mavic 2 Pro over the zoom for the better picture quality. The zoom would be handy but it has Mavic Pro quality and as I had Mavic Pro and wanted better quality that ruled the zoom out for me.

I would however get a Mavic Pro over building one, that's really not going to work out well imo. There's a lot of tech in a Mavic, it's not just a flying camera.

I'm really looking forward to getting the Mavic 2 next week and interested to see how much better the video and photos will be over my old Mavic Pro.

I am a little jealous but I just don’t use mine enough to warrant the money, but the adjustable f-stop is a game changer over the pro, top-side-back-bottom sensors is unreal, really hope it lives up to the hype

Only flown my Air a few times but am tempted to part company and upgrade to the new pro for the improved 1 inch sensor alone!

I liked the mavic but didn't buy it because it didn't impress me for stills. The pro2 is what I was after camera-wise.

I was going to upgrade to the Mavic Pro 2 but thought better of it,
I was borderline pressing the button,
But seen quite a few bits on social media of people who have early release examples,
And the camera gimbals are just dropping off their mounts,
Looks like they’re super glued on,
Nice to know on a premium product costing £1,300,
I’ll hold off for know to see what’s going to get sorted if anything,
Could be a one off or the guy got unlucky and it slipped through quality control,
Either way I’ll be holding off for atleast 6 months now until I see more reviews,

I don't believe that for a minute, most people are just re-reporting the same picture and story (and who knows the truth about that).

This is a mass produced product and unfortunately there will be a problem with a few, it's the same with any product at launch.

In 6 months you have the same chance of having a faulty product but there are less frequent reports due to the initial demand slowing,

Hopefully mine will arrive this week, it has shipped but coming from DJI China so I'm guessing the end of the week. I'll report any issues when I get it.

Reading through the many posts it seems the chap in question dropped his new Mavic Pro 2 and the gimbal hit the edge of a table but has since deleted the original post.

I’m all for getting one, don’t get me wrong,
Maybe I’ll wait a little as like with any new release it’s going to have it’s problems,
For the price I’ll let someone else report what they are if any,
Saying that I’ve had no problems with my release day Mavic Pro,
Have fun when it arrives
