Had a week away in Wales with the wife and boys and paid a visit to Dolgoch Falls at Tywyn.

First time actually going fairly well prepared with a decent tripod and shutter release for a change.

Also started to have a play with ADP Pro and luminosity masks which at the moment is a bit of a learning curve for me along with decent composition of landscape images when i have taken nothing more than motorsport images for many, many years.

Any advice or pointers will be gratefully received as looking to spend more time out and about with the family visiting stunning places like this.

Nice set. I think you'll find a range of opinions on here about the use of a polariser for this type of picture - my view fwiw is that in the second (the strongest of the three) one would have helped control the reflections from the leaves on the left. Then there's bright reflections from wet rock, and the water itself. It's a personal thing but could be worth playing with.

Many thanks, wil make sure i take one with me for a play on my next outing (y)

The top two are nice but personally I think your shutter speed was a bit too long.

A minor additional point for me is that there are two straignt branches in the top left hand section of the top image which I find distracting. One is horizontal, the other slopes down at about NW>SE.

I know they were there in reality but I would clone these out either partially or completely.

All are fine generally.

Some points for consideration:
1. The location should look even better in a months time with the autumn colours so definitely come back for more.
2. No1 could be set up a little bit closer to avoid the large stone right in front. It doesn't help to lead the viewer into the frame, quite the opposite in fact.
3. No2 is probably the best of the three. Other than autumn colours there is little that could improve it much
4. The last frame I feel is the weakest. The frame is really divided in half by the stream and the right part feels very dark and messy. The stones with the moss are perhaps a little bit too prominent so an alternative composition and brighter exposure may help.

Many thanks everyone for the feedback and most certainly a fair few points for me to take into consideration on my next trip out (y)
