Yes
Simple question. What is this?
I've looked through all my books and can't see anything like it.
Growing in pinewoods, on or near the base of pine trees.
Never seen one before. Anyone know what it is?

I am not sure, but, it could be a false Saffron Milkcap, likes spruce and pine habitats and acidic soil.

Thanks. My principal book is Collins Fungi Guide. Supposedly "it" when it comes to identification.
The description in there could be made to fit but the diagram is way off.
Habitat etc is spot on.

In the absence of other suggestions I'll go with False Milkcap(y)
