Goldcrest and Firecrest

Two excellent shots, Martin, especially the firecrest. Not only a photo of a bird that is not seen that often but I think it shows the bird in its environment really well.

I'm happy to see a goldcrest, never mind a firecrest.

Make space in the queue ;)

Well captured indeed in a challenging situation.
Lucky you I've yet to see a firecrest nice shots
A couple of cracking images I can't say I have ever seen one let alone photographed one !
Pinnacle is on my hate list....I'm in the 'I'm lucky I've seen a Goldcrest' camp
Not me MUCH well done

Superb bird photography

Blimey thanks for all the comments, I went out today for another try and didn't even get the camera out of it's bag if that makes things any better. Goldcrest's, I was informed today "in a flock is called a charm" seem well up on numbers, Yew trees near Oaks seem to be to their liking, think graveyards sit still for ages and you might be lucky.

I get the occasional Goldcrest but not Firecrest ... and to get both in the same morning!

Re: collective noun ~ seems they share the same one as the Goldfinch as it was always my understanding that it was '' charm of Goldfinches" perhaps because they share the 'gold' part???

PS I have had fleeting glimpses of a Goldcrest over the years but nowhere near home in Surrey....... Fareham industrial estate and Arne reserve near the reception building yes but one day again :)

Loads in Surrey that’s where I have seen and taken most of mine. I got a couple just of Gosport High St last year as well. You hear them before you see them. A real high pitched call I hear them over headphones whilst walking my mutts.

I clearly (and always knew) I need to get out & about more........your efforts prove it.

Well done on a great capture of such a small bird that is all too often masked by branches.
