Hi,
Just downloaded the trial version to give it a go.
I tried a local adjustement but now i would like to try another one but when i click on local adjustement i got a radial filter instantly. I want to ge the little round menu where i can choose between graduted filter, control point,...
How to I make this appear again?

Also second question, when you applied sharpness and noise reduction. Is there like in lightroom a way to visualise which area is affected like holding alt or shift down?

I have yet to use local adjustments yet but last night I did some and as far as I recall you get the round menu by 'right clicking'

AFAIK no, I think I recall others saying/asking for something like that function on the DxO forum.

The only way I have found to turn the effect on&off is the small "switch" on each of the controls

right click indeed!

How do you find Dxo?
So far i find it's not very easy to use also all the menu have incorporated helps.
But it's true it seems to be good at doing noise reduction compare to lightroom and on1, just been running a test image through them three.

It's a slog adjusting to different software. For Photolab, this guy seems to be independent and to me has great clarity, but as often there's a lot to wade through - http://dxo.tuto.free.fr/index.html#0_Sommaire

I admit to being a beginner with Photolab, being more versed in LR, and for global tonal adjustment of a difficult original I found LR superior. Maybe I should've persisted more?

But an interface is worth learning if the app does what you want efficiently.

Another thing, applicable to some - we do invest time and effort in our own (raw) processing history - you can't revisit your edits in one app by opening the image file in another - it's tally of adjustments is lost. And I'm a reviser, who might want to process a given image differently but might not want to go back to scratch each time.

So I'd hope to stick with a chosen app for quite a while, and immerse myself in its possibilties.

Re: DxO in use

I am still very much finding my way around, my journey started when someone pointed out how well Prime noise control and oh boy does it!!!

FWIW my workflow is, for my printing:-
Lightroom as my DAM
Send RAW to PL2>>>>process to taste ~ I will try the different tools and see whether it contributes to the quality of the result.
Output Sharpen with Topaz Sharpen AI
Resize if/as needed with Topaz Gigapixel AI
Final step is in PS >> I do a final sharpen for printing using Pixel Genius Geoff Schewe of Lightroom fame was one of the development team for this software. This has settings for Inkjet, ConTone and Half-Tone print devices

So far whether it is pro lab printed Giclee prints or Greetings Cards (or previously A5 business 'cards) the final print has delighted me.

In regard to DxO PL2 being different to LR ~ for sure but no matter the tools once used to them it is the final result that counts ;)

Gosh that is a lot of steps your going through, I'm very much a one software do it all kind of kind. And i've got lightroom for a lot of years but fed-up to pay monthly.
So I was trying out a couple of other ones just for the fun (or not). And gosh it is hard. Been even trying jpeg vs raw and i can see a lot less difference that I would have thought. Noise reduction in jpeg seem pretty good I struggle to get such nice result with processing my raw but occasionally some details seems to get lost in the noise reduction.

Yup, a few steps with my i5 quad core and 16gb RAM plus a recommended spec GPU for the Gigapixel step I reckon it takes approximately 10-15 mins per image to get my image print ready

When pp'ing for web sharing that much less time as fewer of the above steps needed ;)
