All things related to Apple phones & tablets

I have never upgraded to the latest iPhone. When the 4 came out, I got a 3GS. When the 5S came out, I got a 4S. When the 10 came out, I got a 6S.

I've just ordered an 11*!

*Actually, I've ordered 2 (1 for Mrs F)

Some people have had problems with iOS 13.1.3. See here for more details:
https://www.gottabemobile.com/5-things-to-know-about-the-ios-13-1-3-update/

"The current list of iOS 13.1.3 problems includes some common issues including installation problems, issues with Touch ID and Face ID, issues with first and third-party apps, UI lag, random reboots, and more."

How many point releases do they need to release before people's devices work as advertised? My iPad Air 2 is working fine, but a friend's iPhone 8 is screwed since the update....

As I’ve been posting on the “Catalina” thread, I’ve had endless problems with syncing twixt iCloud (in browser)/ Mac / iPads / iPhone but it seems to have resolved with latest update all round except for my iPhone which still had some problems. I re-installed the phone from scratch and it now seems to be syncing fully.

Maybe it wasn’t the updates but just time. Apparently something of the order of 500M phones are now on iOS 13 and it must have been more complex with iPadOS being launched as well.

Upgraded my XS Max to latest update and now getting lots of freezing on the apple native apps such as music, podcast and safari. ios13 has had a lot of issues compared to previous updates. I would rather they slow down the major updates and just bring in bi yearly updates to allow for more development time.

honestly had no issues with anything that's been updated yet.

No issues for me here on iPad OS on a 2018 iPad Pro, everything works perfectly. I also haven't used my laptop at home once since getting the iPad so it's doing the job I bought it for.

not Used the iPad Pro yet since updating but the standby time seems normal. Battery life on my iPhone XS today seems normal if not better.

Has anyone with an iPhone X or 11 had problems connecting the phone to their car, especially if it's an older car?

Mrs F can't seem to connect hers, the car doesn't appear in the devices list on her phone. She didn't have any problem with the 6S even with iOS13! Her car is a 57 plate Honda CRV.

My car doesn't have such advanced features ;) but my daughter has no problems, using an iPhone 11, though her car is a fair bit newer (18 plate BMW).

My 16 year old has had to re-boot his XR since going to 13.1.3 as it won’t charge

Charges afterwards...

I have a question for some experts...

I'm new to the apple ecosystem. By that, I mean I got an ipad - it's a standard ipad, not the pro.

I've used android in the past, and have a Windows pc, but am thinking of using the ipad with lightroom to edit raw files. How does this work out?

Much nicer to do on the sofa of an evening :) or even on break at work! I have used lightroom to edit raw files (nikon) in android on my phone with excellent results, but was wondering how the ipad would handle Canon raw files from, say, a 5dii or 6d.

Yes, they handle raw files. Lightroom will be the same as Android.

iOS 13.2 and iPadOS 13.2 are now available.

Includes the Deep Fusion feature for iPhone 11/11 Pro/11 Pro Max.

And they’re £249. They’d best be amazing for that money, given the competition

Early reviews say they are really good and I would be tempted but, like the two models before them, I can't help but think they look silly when other people wear them. That's what stops me buying. :/

Grow your hair over your ears then nobody can see when you have them on!

Unfortunately, nature has made it so that isn't possible. Well, I could grow the sides and back but I would look ridiculous.

Which would also distract people from the ridiculousness of the airpods :D

The stems on the new ones are noticeably smaller after watching a couple of videos and reading some reviews which does make them look better from what I can see.

There’s a whole new market there for small hair pieces (?wigs) to conceal air pods etc.

I bought the wireless charging ones on Amazon the other month - would not be without them. Enough people wear now so you dont look too silly and they sync perfectly. I was annoyed that these came out so soon but would not have paid £250 for them

13.2 borked my Swivel app, caused me no end of problems. Doubt the latest update will resolve it, need to wait for the developer to fix the problem.

I too some video on iPhone 11 last night. Was all good, although when editing i noticed that when I was filming using the wide angle it looked less sharp than when I zoomed it, zooming just made it crisper and better IQ. I was shooting a gig, so was dark then with lots of changing and bright light - so maybe when zoomed it was focussed on one person and less affected by the wider scene?

Isn’t it also switching lenses when you do that?

Yes, I thought the IQ was the same with each lens but obviously not, zooming out to go wide does detract a lot

Howdy folks, my first time in this thread so please be gently if this has been asked before :)

Does anyone know why the iPhone 6 Plus has been left off the list of iOS13 devices? My iPad Air 2 is considered worthy of the upgrade so why not the phone?

I love my phone and it does everything I need it to but if it's going to be left to die in the wilderness of iOS12 I'll have to seriously consider replacing it with something else :(

Come back to an 8 Plus having had an Android for a while.
Seem to be having a bit of an issue with email notifications which don’t seem to show as they should.

Phone is running the latest software and I've checked obvious things such as notifications on etc. and all seems as it should to show them.

Anyone any ideas what else to check.

iOS13 is for 6S onwards I'm afraid.

Are you using the native email app?

Why?

If you're cynical it's enforced obsolescence to make you buy a new phone.

If you're happy with tech progress then it's because it isn't powerful enough to run the latest OS without major performance limitations which Apple have decided will devalue the experience so won't support. If you want the latest performance and features then you need a newer phone.

Your iPad Air 2 is more powerful than the iPhone so gets a stay of execution.
