Anyone else following this? The cloud rolled in less than 5 mins before first contact but cleared half an hour or so later to allow this

Mercury transit by Jannyfox, on Flickr

It's pretty windy out there (as well as cloudy) which is causing a few problems and a bit later I'm going to have to move the camera to a more exposed place, but I'm hoping to get a few more as the event progresses

Okay, full set, such as it it. The first is to show what conditions were like, though you can see Mercury through the cloud. Then it cleared briefly. Then it rained before a very brief clearance 2 hours later. By then the Sun was hidden from my patio and I had to relocate, only to find that the Sun was shining in one direction while it was spitting with rain from another.............. Now my mylar-and-cereal-packet home made solar filter is drying over the radiator, but thankfully the water spots haven't affected the images. You can't wipe a mylar filter.............

There's still a while to go, but the Sun sets here before it's finished, which is while I really wanted to catch the start, but at least I got something.
Techs:
Canon 550D, Sigma 150-600 C lens, iso100, f8 coz that's what the lens was left on from last time out, ss between 1/200 and 1/1000 depending on cloud cover

Not showing, Jan. :(

Strange I saw them without issue, the first post, long before the others were added, so not needing any subsequent tweaking.

It was the first I'd heard of the transit & any filter I have suitable for viewing is packed away at home so no chance of me capturing it.
Can't claim to be particularly inspired by mercury anyway - too small in the suns disc (sun spots work much better for me) and not exceptionally rare occurring multiple times in most lifetimes. The transit of Venus did feel a bit more special (2 in my lifetime), but the views weren't any more spectacular. I think it was the 2004 one I watched (via projection) if it had been 2012 I'd probably have some photos.

Very nice set, I was trying to catch this as well between the clouds during gaps at work. I haven't had chance to process them yet but I can't imagine them being a spot on yours (no pun intended) :)

Can you see them now?

Yes, all showing now. I could see the first as soon as it went up (sorry, meant to like that one as well!) but the others were showing as "attachment #?????" and gave me a 404 or similar when I clicked on them.

Hopefully you don't mind me attaching this to your thread (if so let me know and I'll remove it) but I thought it was more appropriate than starting another thread especially given the quality of my image. This is a quick, near enough 100% crop, taken through a gap in the clouds with a Fuji XT3 and XC 50-230mm.
To be honest I'm embarrassed to show it having seen the quality of the OPs captures but given I'll not get another chance until 2032 it seems a shame not to :)

I would say that for a budget lens that is very good indeed. the colour is of no importance.

Very good Jan, I attempted but somehow I don't appear to have captured it rather annoyingly, just the sun and a bit of cloud. Weather was not good here and only had one opportunity. Edit, I was too early, doh!

Easily done. I didn't think I was going to get it at all.

I don't mind at all - I'm just glad I wasn't all on my own in it. Well done.

Cracking set of images Jan.

I too gave it a go at Epsom Downs racecourse and was happy to practically freeze. Cloud was thick but there were a few gaps at the start and I managed to get a shot of Second Contact (y)
