What birds or bird have you seen today – communal thread, I hope!

Seems like this is due a bump (y)
I did think about putting it in "Captive" as it was taken in a bear enclosure at a zoo ;)

Publish and be damned I say :D

Came through to the kitchen to get lunch and found someone was already having hers................
I don't know what the victim was but the smart money is on one of the collared doves. There's now a heap of feathers on the lawn which was obviously the kill spot, a heap of feathers in the corner which was the eating spot and feathers all over the patio wall. Tidy eaters they're not!
Not great quality as shot through a grubby DG window at an angle on a murky day into a dark corner under the fence. She was less than 10 feet away, took no notice of me at all and only scarpered with the tiny scrap she had left when a cat came by.

I've been staying on a farm in Pembrokeshire this week doing some Workaway, and whilst digging out brambles I've been followed by loads of robins. After work yesterday, I went and pretended to dig for a few minutes, and then left a worm on a nicely positioned stump as bait. Less than 10 seconds later, this guy obliged. Felt a bit like cheating it was so easy, but he enjoyed his meal and I like the pictures I got. The worm was the only one who lost out I suppose! What are your thoughts on mild "baiting" or is it all fair, to a reasonable degree?

How do you think it's going to shape up Mike? (Particularly for BIF)

It is honestly too early to say, most of the time i can only shoot in one of two places, this was the worst one you get no warning a bird is coming in, judging from this place i would say not well but i need to get to my other site.

Finally Warnham seems to be back to normal after the flood of Kingfishers, nice and quiet there today

Was standing talking to a builder this afternoon when we heard a massive thump, looked round and there was a blackbird lying on the ground who had decided to fly into the van. Anyway, it was quite severly stunned so we moved it into the garden and while it was recovering I took a few shots with my mobile.

Don't get many chances like this at 4.4mm :)

Reports of up to three Bitterns at Slimbridge at the end of last week so couldn't miss the chance.
I waited at the Zeiss Hide for quite some time with no sightings so walked down to the Kingfisher Hide to have a look ... withing 5 minutes the Bittern broke cover to my extreme right and flew toward the Zeiss Hide! :banghead:

Another walk back and eventually got s brief sighting as it broke cover before flying into the reeds again.

Isn't that always the way, this nature photography is more about waiting around then getting pictures
but well worth it
