Stag on Rannoch Moor

Great shot, and with the Buachaille in the background.
Still wild so not cheating at all

Lovely, iconic image and a stag as well. (y)

They are wild as the hills, they still do all things deer do. They may be more at ease with humans now but definately not tame and should be treated as such.

I love the light you've captured too and a very good composition. I'd maybe clone out the vehicle to the right.

Top work.

Tame or not- that is a cracking image

Les :)

You can still see the road - and for that reason I think the shot fails - and also for the half cut off mountain. That road makes getting access to the Glen amazing, but you have to take great care in your location and composition selection to avoid framing it.

What I might have done is got to the right of the deer and shot towards Glen Etive direction a) hiding the road b) framing the entire of the Buachaille.

Looking t it that way, yes, re composing like that would avoid some of the problems.

Nice , the Deer is sized nicely and not lost as many are in these environment type pics , I would be pleased with it .

This would be considered wild in most national and international competitions. Generally, world-wide nature is so affected by humans now that it is hard to find many animals or birds that are completely wild. A very good shot that I would have been well pleased with.

Thank you all for the feedback, and the constructive criticism. I have since cloned out the vehicle which is visible and agree that it looks better. I do have a shot more towards the Buachaille but it is messy due to multiple deer and the fact they were below the Kingshouse access road, rather than above it when I finally was able to catch the stag up there.

In hindsight I maybe became too focused on my initial composition idea, rather than looking at what I could actually achieve with a more open mind, as this was pretty much what I had in mind when I started trying to photograph them.
