Yes
Hi i bought a sealed copy from that well known auction site a couple of weeks ago but cannot get it to install.
I have tried on 2 laptops and my desktop all running windows 10.
The person i bought it off is adamant that it's a genuine copy even though i spoke to an advisor at Adobe and he says the license key is invalid.
If anyone has a copy can they confirm if the contents on the disk I have match theirs.
The contents on mine are app file folder, data file folder, autorun icon 5kb, autorun setup information 1kb, read me first PDF file 568kb and set-up application 400kb.

The read me file says i have to create a new folder on my c drive and copy and paste the above contents into the folder and then right click on the set-up file in the new folder and run as administrator which is supposed to start installation but nothing happens.

If Adobe say the license key is invalid I doubt you will have any success. Return it.

what you have is an upgade version so, I could be wrong but you need a previous version installed for it to work
On the attached pictures the one showing the redacted serial number includes "UPG" that as far as I recall means Upgrade.

Unless you have a previous version installed IMO you have been sold a pup :(

You will need the previous version licence key to install it if you have an upgrade version
Could possibly buy an earlier version, can't imagine they would be very expensive
If it helps I upgraded from LR3 to LR6, would think something that old should be cheap

Unless, of course, it was sold as an upgrade and O/P made a mistaken purchase. :)
A fair point that maybe needs a tad of clarification on just what was "being sold" and/or "what the purchase 'paperwork' " says???

FWIW
Though it has been a while:-
When I wanted to get lightroom....I bought a released activation license version 3 on the bay (my first and last such auction site purchase).
I never installed it as it was bought with the express reason for budget purposes to buy LR v4 upgrade.

As I recall, LR4 installer reported no previous version found......and gave an option to enter the previous version license code....... that allowed the LR4 installation to continue..... entering its license code as appropriate.

Since that time I have upgraded to v5 and then v6 as appropriate.

Not sure I even had the older version installed, definitely needed the old licence key though.
My old pc failed and when I got a new one pretty sure I went straight in with LR6

Send it back would seem to be your only option
If Adobe are saying the key is invalid can't see how it will ever work

Best bet I reckon, if it was sold as a genuine copy you should be able to use it without issues
Wonder if its been used before and not unregistered by the previous owner.
Just looked at my copy and on the front it says Windows/Mac, checked on google images and they all seem to say that.
Something very strange with the one you have bought, maybe you could mention that if the refund is challenged.

But he said it was sealed, though it seems (see sbove) that it was an upgrade ...

I assume that LR6 is unavailable from Adobe these days - it did linger for a while but was pretty well hidden on their website. Ebay is rife with rogues (though the seller in question here might be just an innocent?), but legit copies do appear and Adobe I guess still do allow licences to be transferred. You just have to be canny and read between the lines a bit in trying to divine whether a seller is genuine.
