weekly rpn's 2020 52 Photo Challenge - Week 52 DECORATIONS Added ***COMPLETE***

pleasure - nice photo, well composed and lit. I'm not a huge fan of the super shallow DoF, so for my taste the entire page with that scary looking sudoku could have been in focus.

tool - what a clever idea, brilliantly executed (y)

Thank you, Bernd for the catch-up comment.

Wow! Fantastic start to your 52 Stan.
The building is great on the outside and even better on the inside.
Pleasure is another stunning shot. Perfect shallow DoF.
Your shot for tool is simply perfect! Very well thought out and shot.

Thanks, Lee for the catchup comments, much appreciated.

Fabulous idea brilliantly executed, Stan! This is really superb from the idea and arrangement, to the lighting and post processing. It must have taken a lot of tweaking and fiddling but it's paid off - really well done :)

Thank you, Andrea. A lot of trials and errors to get the lighting the way I wanted it so to keep the post-processing to the minimum. I'm happy with the end result.

This is one of many pillboxes dotted along the sand dunes around here. Not a very interesting object to photography so I decided to go out just before sunset and luckily the light during golden hour did not disappoint me.

The second one is by far my favourite, Stan.

I like both shot but the second one is the more atmospheric one.

What are those 'pillboxes'?

Thanks, Bernd. These were built during the Second World War along the coast here as defence posts against potential sea bound invasion. Normally a type of blockhouse, or concrete dug-in guard post, normally equipped with loopholes through which to fire weapons. It is in effect a trench to protect against small-arms fire and grenades and raised to improve the field of fire.

Very golden Stan. I think I might have gone with the second shot, purely as it's more moody.

Cheers, Tim. The first shot was what I was aiming to shoot before I left the house and the second, as said, a bonus but the cloudscape that evening was a lot better than I imagined.

Nice capture, I like the POV and there are some nice looking lenticular clouds in the sky, looks like it was a lovely day. It's amazing when you see bits of our discarded history, just like this, dotted around the countryside in the most unexpected of places!

Thanks, Jim and thanks for the type of cloud name information.

There are many of these pillboxes all along the coast here. Some of those near the shoreline are in bits and damaged by the sea. That one I shoot is the best condition one.

Stunning work Stan!
Your posted image is spectacular, but #2 is simply breathtaking!
Flawless!

There's quite a few pillboxes dotted around where I live too...I've often thought of doing a photo project...maybe one day!

Thanks, Gareth for the nice words.
I always knew these pillboxes are there but never find them interesting enough to photo until this theme pops up.

Great choice of image for the theme, the second one is amazing and worthy of hanging on the wall.

Great pair of pictures, but the second one is breathtaking. There are some nice defence pill boxes in East Yorkshire worth snapping.
