Its always good to see a Tawny, out of the 5 UK species of owl, its the one I see the least.

I've only seen her out of the nest once and that was in thick fog!

Below her, in the trunk, she has 2 Owlets, I missed them fledge last year, hopefully they'll use the nest again this year.

Love this Phil, great natural shot. I'm guessing there is no way of getting a view without the OOF branch? Time to get some shears I reckon!

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated

@pooley , Mike, the locals at Flamborough, being of Viking decent, would have me 'blood eagled' for pruning those branches back!

@Stuart Philpott , Stu, there's only the trunk left, but yes mate, I would think its an old oak.

Good luck tying to tempt them in. i agree, if you can managed to hollow a truck out it would be much better than building a box, cheers

This is great Phil, no wonder I rarely see them if they're this good at blending in!

Thanks Si, appreciated

I've not seen many Tawnys either over the years but its easy to see why. When they get tight up against the trunk day time roosting, their camouflage really does work well, cheers

super Phil

Love it. Great capture,Phil.

I was up quite early this morning and that's just how I feel now..:)
